Why are we all pretending? He obviously wouldn’t “love to be trans”. That’s immediately negated by what he says afterwards. Why bother to even say any of this?
wow i say this all the time

People know 3 movies and talk out of their ass about the entire cinematic landscape
Hate to say it but having both of these come out the same year it’s painfully clear that out of the two, Nathan does the whole docufiction shtick ten times better, more interestingly, and more confrontationally. I get Matt doesn’t like how unethical and mean spirited nathan’s 1/2

‘I have just the article for this. Which I wrote by the way’ if after minute three it’s still just all about doing coke off your over-moneyed friend’s cock then this was not an appropriate plug

Okay, I eat my hat. I read it. It’s not bad!

I always find cases like Jason Arday’s to be so depressing. An inveterate liar, and when he gets found out, he can’t go on—he kills himself. I can’t imagine a life where I simply can’t just be myself, my whole life is the lie, without it I’m nothing. What a tortured man.

The sheer magnitude of his scrutiny was of course down to the sinister racism of the tabloid press and, likely, unbearable for him. But it does make me wonder: if we posit him as a mere victim of the press does that strip him further of an agency and dignity that we owe him?

Perhaps the scale of his scrutiny killed him, perhaps it was that he was scrutinised at all. Now we will never know. Crucially, he was not evil. He was a pathological liar—the kind that can’t be helped. A sad affair indeed.

Whatever man
Mishima, just like Adorno, is right about this. The bourgeois really *consume* an opera and act like it replenished them. And while they think of this as a class identifier, they absorb it like the lower classes would do with a Netflix show. No reflection, no inspiration.

I’m not here to defend the bourgeois but at some point you have to admit that the surfeit of luxury they have affords them the proper time anybody should have to integrate art into their lives properly. Everyone who cares should be given this regardless of class

But this kind of shit pisses me off, it’s just ‘I SIT MY ASS DOWN AND LISTEN TO THE MUSIC BITCH!!!’ framed—confoundingly—as Socialisme

I genuinely do wonder how much trauma in these kinds of situations is real and how much of it is manufactured and educed by social pressures. Far more traumatising than getting your dick sucked is being told by people responsible for you ‘you were molested. YOU WERE MOLESTED!’
My husband looks back fondly on losing his virginity at 14 to a 19 year old. I have tried and tried but he refuses to acknowledge his trauma

I’m not even denying that this is often traumatic. But, in turn, it sometimes isn’t—especially when young men and women mature at very different rates.
