How AI coordination with China is going to end (ft. Game of Thrones)
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

Big Tech is overvalued. The current PE ratios require the Mag 7 to grow to a size rivalling the US government, a scenario that won't go unchallenged. But there is still value to be found elsewhere in the broader tech industry, which will only grow long-term.

Netherlands and the ocean, both blooming.
Zoom in to see the tulips' colours on the land, and the phytoplankton swirl of blue & green in the sea.
The tulips adorn vases around the world, and the phytoplankton (algae & bacteria) convert sunlight and CO2 into organic matter which sustains nearly all marine life.
Life is beautiful.

Interesting!
That is a payback time of 2-4 years
One of the most substantive classes with @ChaseLochmiller at Stanford. We went deep on economics of the datacenter:
- Where is the ~$650B of AI infra capex actually going this year?
- Who's capturing the margin, who's getting squeezed?
- How the bottleneck has moved from GPUs to power, and where it goes next
- The economics of neoclouds
EPEX bottom has been reached❗
€-500/MWh on 1st May in CWE-Europe
June hasn't even started
Do we have too little BESS?
or do we need more Curtailment in PV?
In NL we have an installed asset base of 29 GWp of PV,
- only 6-8 GW is steerable on price
using claude code running agents developing python scripts,
what are great software add-ons, github repo's, tools, software that enables user to increase performance and quality
for example often mentioned on X (twitter) like paperclip.ing/ ?
what do you think @grok?
