Great canvass launch in Goochland today with @JennMcClellanVA @goochlandvadems @VAYD in support of @tomperriello. We need to send Tom back to Congress because Virginia's 5th Congressional District deserves a representative who will listen, lead, and fight for its communities. Grateful for the incredible volunteers who showed up ready to knock doors, talk with neighbors, and listen to voters.

I spoke with WRIC about my letter urging the Goochland Board of Supervisors to deny Tract's proposal to develop a 900-megawatt data center adjacent to established residential neighborhoods, a project that has generated significant concern among residents. Their concerns should not be ignored. The decision that will eventually come before the Board will shape not only their communities, but the future of our region for generations to come. I urge the Board to listen to residents and give their concerns the consideration they deserve as they review this proposal. See my interview here: wric.com/news/local-news/goo…

The impacts of a project like this don’t stop at county lines. Residents in Henrico and Goochland have raised serious concerns about the effects on their neighborhoods, infrastructure, and quality of life. I’ve urged the Goochland Board of Supervisors to deny Tract’s proposal and encourage them to listen closely to the residents who will be affected by this decision.
“Henrico should not remain silent when a neighboring jurisdiction’s development decisions may affect thousands of our households and the schools our children attend,” a resident told the Henrico Board of Supervisors Tuesday. henricocitizen.com/henrico-r…

Today, I sent a letter to the Goochland County Board of Supervisors urging them to deny Tract's request to build a 900-megawatt data center in eastern Goochland. Given the scale of the proposal, the Board's decision will have lasting implications for Goochland County and the surrounding region. Read my full letter to the Board:

Yesterday's historic 250th anniversary commemoration of the General Assembly in Williamsburg was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on Virginia's history and our future. As the daughter of immigrants, I couldn't help but think about how different that room looked 250 years ago. Many of the voices reflected in yesterday's gathering, including my own, would not have been part of that conversation. Each generation has the opportunity and responsibility to strengthen our institutions and ensure more voices are heard. I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve and help shape Virginia's next chapter.

I’m encouraged that Henrico and Goochland have each decided to move away from Flock cameras after hearing residents’ concerns about privacy and accountability. Public safety and privacy are not competing values. Law enforcement needs effective tools, but those tools must be used responsibly and with appropriate safeguards. As the General Assembly revisits this issue next session, we must work toward the right balance between public safety, privacy, accountability, and the authority of local communities to make decisions that reflect their residents’ values.
The Henrico County Police Division is terminating its contract with Flock Safety due to privacy concerns about the company’s system of automatic license plate reader (ALPR) cameras. henrico.gov/news/2026/10/hen…

I'm proud to see Virginia ranked No. 1 in the nation for workforce training. This recognition highlights the success of the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program, which helps attract businesses to the Commonwealth while investing in the people who call Virginia home. What I love about this achievement is that it's not just about economic growth. It's about helping Virginians build skills, access opportunity, and succeed in good-paying careers. Families deserve transparency in health care. In my latest op-ed, I discuss HB 1115, a new law taking effect in 2027 that will require upfront cost disclosures for scheduled non-emergency medical transportation, helping protect Virginians from surprise bills.
A Virginia mother’s unexpected $2,200 ambulance bill helped inspire HB 1115, a new law requiring upfront disclosure of costs for scheduled non-emergency medical transportation, writes Del. May Nivar. ➡️ Find link to story in bio

Great to stop by and welcome the Virginia Dental Hygienists' Association to the 57th District for their Annual Fall Meeting and learn about their upcoming legislative priorities. Dental hygienists are an important part of the healthcare team, helping patients improve their oral health and overall well-being at every stage of life. Thank you for all you do for communities across Virginia!

Wonderful community Q&A with @MayforVA in Wellesley tonight. We covered a lot of ground; what happened last session, issues in the news this summer and a wide range of questions from folks in the community!

Honored to speak at yesterday's Governor's Advisory Board Summit. As a former member/chair of one of the boards, it was meaningful to reflect on how board service shaped my path to elected office and my work in the General Assembly. Most importantly, I spoke about the power of partnership. We may represent different communities, but we're often strongest when we work together. Appreciated Governor Spanberger and many cabinet members joining the summit and affirming the important role these boards play in community-informed policymaking.

This evening, I joined @DelRodWillett @LeslieMehtaVA and @Rae_Cousins23 for a conversation with physicians and staff from the @vpfw and @MedSocietyVA about maternal health, workforce challenges, and the potential impacts of medical liability policies on physicians and patient care. It was valuable to hear directly from those providing care in our communities and to learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing obstetric care in Virginia.

I also spent part of the weekend with Congressman @JamesWalkinshaw to support his reelection campaign. It was great to see friends from across Virginia's 11th Congressional District, familiar faces from our Chinese American community, and supporters who traveled from afar, including Maryland Delegate Chao Wu. James has dedicated his career to serving Virginia, and in Congress he has continued standing up for our federal workforce and fighting for the issues that matter most to families across the Commonwealth. We need leaders like James in Congress, and I'm proud to help build the majority needed to move Virginia and our country forward.

It was so great to be back with @goochlandvadems at their annual Ice Cream Social today! From affordable healthcare and lower costs to strong public schools and safe neighborhoods, families here know what’s at stake this November. @tomperriello will be a strong voice for Goochland, and with your support, we’re going to send him back to Congress and deliver results for Virginia’s 5th District.

I joined the @JRAvirginia to learn more about the return of Atlantic sturgeon to the James and the work that has helped bring this endangered species back. During our tour, we spotted several sturgeon leaping from the river near the Chesterfield power station. Seeing these ancient fish firsthand was a powerful reminder of how far restoration efforts have come. Their recovery is a real success story, but it also highlights the challenges that remain. Aging infrastructure and water withdrawals can put added pressure on water quality and the habitat sturgeon depend on. If we want to protect the progress we have made, we have to keep investing in the infrastructure that keeps our rivers and communities healthy. Thank you to the James River Association for the opportunity to learn more about this remarkable species and the work ahead to protect the James for generations to come. It was wonderful to join convenience store owners, operators, and industry leaders from across Virginia once again for the Mid-Atlantic C-Store Expo hosted by the Virginia Asian American Store Owners Association. Convenience stores are a part of daily life for so many Virginians, providing essential services, creating jobs, and supporting local economies throughout the Commonwealth. Thank you to VAASOA for another successful event and for bringing together businesses that help keep Virginia moving.
