This is a very cool project I’ve been working on over the past few months with my team at the IJF. We've brought together contracts, lobbying and ATIP data so Canadians can see the relationship between corporations and our government: theijf.org/paper-trail (1/4)
The IJF’s new database, Paper Trail, pulls together thousands of government documents to create a ‘friendlier and clearer’ path to accountability. zurl.co/6Walf
On the lobbying side, we can see that Amazon has logged 1,479 meetings with federal government officials to advance their policy agendas, and that the company has registered 63 lobbyists who formerly held government positions (3/4)
Paper Trail is free and built with journalists in mind. Building this was challenging because companies report their activity under dozens of different names (ie AMAZON, AMAZONCOM, AMAZONCA). We've done the matching so you can see the big picture: theijf.org/paper-trail (4/4)
