A Melton Mowbray pork pie is pork, wrapped in pork fat, sealed with pork jelly. It was built to survive a day in the coat pocket of a man on a galloping horse. The pastry is like no other. You boil water with a block of lard until it melts, pour it hot into the flour, and work it while it is still warm. The result can be raised by hand into a tall case that will stand up on its own. It bakes as hard as a tin. The filling is fresh pork, chopped with a knife, with nothing added but salt and pepper. It cooks grey, the colour of a roast, and a real one is never pink. Then comes the clever part. As the meat cooks it shrinks away from the crust and leaves a gap. So when the pie comes out of the oven, hot stock made from boiled trotters is poured in through a hole in the lid. It sets into a jelly that fills every space and shuts out the air. That is what makes the pie keep. It was the food of the hunting field. The grooms and riders of Leicestershire needed something that would not fall apart at a fence, and from the 1830s Melton was sending them to London by stagecoach. And the pork was there for a reason. The same countryside makes Stilton. Cheesemaking leaves gallons of whey, and whey fattens pigs. The cheese fed the pig, and the pig became the pie. The recipe has been protected by law since 2009. Every part of it breaks a modern rule. It is also a complete meal you can eat with one hand, that needs no fridge and no packaging, and they solved it 200 years ago with a pig.

One of life's unintended perfumes is a hot grinding disc as it cuts through stone flags. It'll probably kill you in the end, but hey ho

Check this out: “As a former RNLI Crewman Volunteer of 15 years let me educate you of Maritime Law if I may. When these rubber boats set off from France overloaded, the French are breaking maritime law by not intercepting them and returning them to shore. When these illegal migrants boats have sailed almost 3/4 of the way to the UK and now in British waters, the RNLI and Border Force are sent out by the Coastguard on the instructions of HM Government to intercept them. They do this because if the rubber boats are allowed to land on uk soil under their own steam then everyone on board becomes an illegal immigrant and by law MUST be detained and deported asap. However when they are picked up at sea, even if only 200 yards offshore, and in no danger whatsoever, then the RNLI and Border pick them up and they are longer called illegals - conclusion The French and The British are doing this on purpose - WHY?”

🚨We are now in a place where a whole town gets locked down by the Government for a boat that has not arrived…. Gosport. Haslar Bridge shut. Coaches at Fort Blockhouse. Masks banned. A dispersal order on the entire town until 7am Tuesday. Anyone who wants to stand there is sent to a car park. If not you’re threatened with arrest.. The boat is still in French waters. The government will not even say this is the landing. Last time, they took the people to Dover.

My brother Kris would have been 53 today. He was a Royal Navy fighter pilot, flying the FA2 Sea Harrier from our aircraft carriers and then the Harrier GR9. He flew 160 missions in Afghanistan. Lieutenant Commander Kris Ward. In November 2018 he took the decision to end his own life soon after his 45th birthday. No matter how well you think your friends and family are doing, dig a little deeper. Be there for them. They may need your help. When it’s too late it’s too late.

“He was only 17 — but on #MountLongdon, #Private #JasonBurt went into battle with the #ParachuteRegiment 🦅🇬🇧 when many boys his age were still at school.” 🪖 Jason Stuart Burt was born on 28th July 1964 & grew up in #Walthamstow, London 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. After leaving school at just 16, he joined the #BritishArmy and became a member of B Company, #3rdBattalion, The Parachute Regiment (#3PARA). He had completed his training less than four months before the #FalklandsWar 🇫🇰 began. For a teenager who had only recently completed his training, the journey to the #SouthAtlantic was an extraordinary one. 3 PARA sailed for the #Falklands aboard #SSCanberra on 8th April 1982. Jason was one of several 17-year-old soldiers in the battalion. He was also one of the British #Jewish ✡️ soldiers who served during the campaign. The harsh conditions tested the young paratroopers long before they reached Mount Longdon. During the gruelling marches across the Falklands, Jason developed trench foot. Yet according to the #Airborne Assault Museum's account, he concealed the condition from the battalion medical officer on the eve of the battle and took his place on the start line. Then came the night of 11–12 June. The Battle of Mount Longdon would become one of the fiercest actions of the Falklands campaign. British paratroopers 🦅 faced heavily defended #Argentine 🇦🇷 positions on the ridge west of #PortStanley, fighting through darkness, difficult terrain, & intense enemy fire. During the advance, Jason's platoon corporal, #BrianMilne, stepped on a mine. The planned silent approach had been shattered. Under fire, Jason was among the first to reach Milne and administer first aid. Later, Jason became involved in the desperate fighting around an Argentine machine-gun position. He was with #Sergeant #IanMcKay's group during an attempt to attack the position. McKay would later be awarded the #VictoriaCross #posthumously for his actions that night. Importantly, the detailed account preserved by the Airborne Assault Museum records that Jason survived that initial assault without being wounded. The battle continued. In a subsequent attack involving men from 4 and 5 Platoons, Jason answered Sergeant Des Fuller's order for the group to charge. During the assault, he stumbled, regained his footing, and continued forward. He was then struck by a .50-calibre machine-gun round. At the same time, his friends #NeilGrose and #IanScrivens were also hit. #JasonBurt was killed in the early hours of 12th June 1982, aged just 17. He was only weeks away from his eighteenth birthday. The battle cost 3 PARA #17men, and Jason was among the youngest. His story is particularly poignant because of how young he was. He had joined the Army straight from school, trained as a paratrooper, and crossed the world to fight for Britain. There was no long military career behind him, no decades of service to recount — only a remarkably short journey from schoolboy to airborne soldier. Jason was later buried at #Aldershot #MilitaryCemetery in Hampshire, alongside comrades from the conflict. He was awarded the #SouthAtlantic #Medal with Rosette for his service in the Falklands.🎖️ Today, remembering Jason means remembering not only the soldier he became, but the seventeen-year-old boy who never had the chance to discover the man he might have grown into. 🇬🇧 Forever Remembered — Private Jason Stuart Burt, 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. Killed in action at Mount Longdon, Falkland Islands, on 12 June 1982, aged just 17. A young paratrooper who crossed the Atlantic to serve his country and never came home. His name remains among those who gave everything in the Falklands. 🕊️ 📸 Photographs: Private Jason Burt in his 3 PARA uniform, photographs of the Parachute Regiment during the Falklands campaign, and memorial images connected with Jason and his fallen comrades at Mount Longdon and Aldershot Military Cemetery. #BritishArmy #ukmilitary #Warrior #LestWeForget #UltimateSacrifice

This footage is going to become a big headache for the police. A police officer appears to pretend he has been hit by a car. Seconds later, the elderly man behind the wheel is dragged out of the vehicle and thrown to the ground. How are the public supposed to trust the police to enforce the law when incidents like this happen? This needs investigating properly, and if the footage is as it appears, there must be accountability for every officer involved.

It is extraordinary that clerics and scholars who have been banned in Muslim countries are allowed to 'preach' here Could it be that the Home Secretary is a Muslim, whose religion hinders her attempts to be even-handed ?
The Muslim cleric who received the award had already been banned from preaching in Pakistan… How many other Imams here in the UK have praised terrorism? This extremist cleric is just the tip of the Iceberg. Radical Islam has infiltrated our country.
