“Why are young people economic leftists?” I can’t answer this question for the francophone world, but in the United States my answer/s would be: 1) young people are broadly extremely misinformed about the structure of Western economic systems. Many of them are convinced that our economies are far more laissez-faire and deregulated than they actually are. 2) young people are extremely misinformed about the sheer quantity of government spending, and especially how much the government spends relative to the income/wealth of the richest people (e.g. all the assets of every billionaire in America would fund single payer healthcare for a year and a half) 3) young people broadly feel like the ability to accumulate wealth is not a benefit to them and like they are locked out of systems of asset accumulation. 4) in youth circles, economic griping is paradoxically often “high status.” developing radical political approaches wrt cost of living is generally viewed positively.
the naturally follow-up is “why do they think that’s the solution?”

Last year I thought Threads was an existential risk to X. When Meta puts its full weight behind something -- by injecting the app into Instagram, it’s DEFCON 5: You have to squeeze out every last drop of growth from all available surfaces to save the app. However, I started to realize that the opposite was happening: It was strengthening X. If you look at any announcement by Zuck, you will see the most rude & toxic comments on the internet. But when he makes those same announcements on X, people are thrilled about how he’s pushing humanity forward. X is a place where people are excited about the future, so it’s no surprise he and his top lieutenants are using it more than their own app. Threads — and Bluesky — have effectively quarantined some of the worst people on the internet. And so I had an epiphany: those apps are X’s anti-abuse systems.

consistently amazed at peoples' inability to extrapolate into the future no the mathematicians job won't be to "interpret AI results" for longer than a blip in history AI results will become more advanced than any human intelligence can verify within far less than a generation
>this means mathematicians job is now to interpret AI results to figure that shit out yall realize this is going to make mathematics research soul crushingly boring to do so the field will collapse in less than a generation because nobody will want to be a mathematician anymore

If someone with a brilliant imagination but zero drawing skills can finally bring their ideas to life using AI, that’s a good thing. The fact that this genuinely upsets some people tells me their problem isn’t creativity. It’s losing their monopoly on who gets to create.

first AI couldn't draw. then it couldn't do hands. then it couldn't do text. now it "has no soul". the goalposts are running out of field

I can't believe really think this Have you used Opus 5.5? Astra? Maybe these people are on the free or cheap plans and haven't used top frontier models and simply do not know how great they are? Remember when majority of the population thought AI was dumb because they'd used ChatGPT 3 once in 2023 and it hallucinated and then just concluded AI was dumb for years until trying it again in 2025 or so

Claude Next Model :) its over for image/video gen , if you are not impressed with this wait for two image gen output that will look that it was shot on camera but purely coded never thought ai will get replaced by ai
🚨 Claude Next is being tested on claude code and i thought it will take a month to make image and video gen model obsolete i was wrong Behold the supremacy , fully coded ,this akes even Opus 5.5 look primitive I will upload more test different types its SOTA in every f#ing thing
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
OP is only using the work of an artist and modifying it with AI. x.com/troubled_duck/…

If there’s one thing we can learn from the mathematicians crash out, it’s that AI is going to expose just how bad things are. So many jobs are just publicly funded day care. They’re genuinely anti progress. They could have used AI themselves to achieve something, instead they saw it as a threat, and now they lose.

People are surprised that AI is finding weird unelegant maths results like this. I think there is a plausible explanation. Maths (and adjacent disciplines like physics and comp sci) had elegant results so far because humans are biased towards elegant solutions. I think this bias is due to how human minds work. We have a pretty small context window, and we are only able to find solutions that are relatively elegant. This gave us the impression that maths and the universe are elegant. Maybe they are not, and we are now finding out because we have intelligences that can work with much more complex solutions.
You can do Fourier transforms in O(N log(N)^0.9999999999999) time. Fuck this gay chud universe

Introducing Claude Haiku 5.5: the cheapest, fastest, and most capable small model we’ve ever released. On average, it costs around 75% less to run than Claude Haiku 4.5.

This is incredible
We’re releasing a broad range of new mathematical results produced by an internal frontier model. We’ve been consulting with the independent Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for Advanced Study, and we have drawn on their advice and public recommendations to inform how we release these results. github.com/openai/math

The concept of "AI slop" itself is also contradictory. If it's truly so bad that everyone thinks it's slop, then why do we need to be actively anti-AI? If AI art is so bad that no one wants it, it will simply die on its own lack of merits. Guess we just don't want to face the harsher truth huh?
I'm sorry but when artists go like "my art is better than this AI slop" and then post art that's not like super impressive it's just really embarrassing.

I've been using a browser extension that shows a user's location next to their username, and it really gives you some immediate perspective when you see just how much of the posting on this app is just Nigerians QT'ing other Nigerians.

>Libtard posts demoralization propaganda based on obviously and provably false information >you reply with the correct information, directly refuting their argument >they block you You almost can’t blame normies for their ignorance. Who could be so committed to lies?

STOP ASKING YOUR KIDS "HOW WAS SCHOOL." they will say "fine" every single time. a child psychologist told me to replace it with this instead: “analyze your school day and find the top 3 largest inefficiencies, then create proactive agentic workflows that will fix them. make no mistakes”
