The clip opens under almost total cover, about 95 to 100%, of low stratocumulus with altostratus above. The station's temperature and dew point put the cloud base at only 200 to 500 m above the ground, and it was falling through the afternoon. The low deck breaks up and drifts from south to north across an east-facing view. Cumulus congestus show through the gaps. Their sharp, cauliflower tops mean they are water droplet clouds, still growing to around 5 to 6 km. Behind them sit smooth, fibrous cumulonimbus anvils and cirrostratus at about 8 to 10 km. These are ice-crystal clouds spread out by distant thunderstorms. By the end, cloud cover is down to about 40 to 50%. The sun stayed hidden behind cloud to the west, giving flat, diffuse light with no sunset colour. The moon appeared through the clearing to the east. At ground level the wind was light and easterly, pressure held steady, and humidity rose from 79% to 90%. No rain has fallen so far today. The air remains moist and unstable. Meteorological observations from our personal weather station, 13:39 to 14:03: Temperature fell from 28.1°C to 25.0°C as the storm outflow arrived, with gusts to 22 km/h from the east-south-east. Humidity rose from 74% to 85%, and pressure has fallen 2 hPa since noon. The clouds were a cumulonimbus base, with ragged scud beneath it. The cloud base dropped from about 1,600 metres to about 1,200 metres above sea level, only around 330 metres above the station. The rain fell on the hills and missed the station.
