Finished the second of the 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold' books by Toshikazu Kawaguchi today. An interesting and emotional read!
Excited to see this in 2021. Book isn't perfect but it's an interesting concept. You can read my thoughts here: mattsbookshelf.wordpress.com…

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle – Stuart Turton

I first came across The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (or seven and a half if you’re in the US) not through a recommendation but rather an article on video game website Eurogamer of all p…

Controversial opinion, but I can't stand bookcases with the books ordered by colour. Suggests the owner is more interested in appearances in my eyes.

Ben Fogle. Up above the streets and houses Fogle climbing high. Fogle's rainbow, like Gravity's, is an intricate network that creates a transcendent whole. Examining Fogle's rainbow is like approaching a great painting. You see the dabs that build a rich sense of a single colour.

Got to see this beautiful collection of Charles Dickens yesterday. Puts my own copies to shame!

We're trying a new thing! Where possible we're turning books around so that you can read the blurb without touching them if you don't want to. Upside down is the new right way up. #UpsideDownBooks

A fractious moment in American history. Not just the present day, but also the life of Archie Ferguson in 4 3 2 1 by Paul Auster. mattsbookshelf.wordpress.com…

4 3 2 1 – Paul Auster

As much as I love books, I was somewhat daunted by the colossal size of Paul Auster’s 4 3 2 1. Coming in at 1070 pages, this is not a quick read by any stretch of the imagination and has been…

Finally managed to finish the 1070 pages of 4 3 2 1, which has kept me going all of lockdown so far. Extremely engaging look at a life lived in post WWII America. A slog, but a mostly enjoyable and brilliantly written one.

Imagine the tabloid reaction if a footballer broke lockdown and travelled from New Zealand to Scotland by plane and car. #neilgaiman

Currently working my through 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold' by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. Perhaps the most sedate time travel fiction I've ever read so far. I'm enjoying it!
Still need to catch up with the 4th...
