It isn’t emotional limbo. People are legitimately stupid, or they simply don’t know themselves. How can you possibly know yourself—or understand the way you think, act, and respond to others—when you are constantly stimulating yourself? This is the typical day for most people: Wake up and check your phone. Get ready for work. Drive to work while listening to music so loud that you can’t think. Get to work, talk to coworkers, and perform whatever tasks you need to perform. Go to lunch and either sit on your phone or talk to coworkers. Finish the workday. Get off work and listen to music on the way home. Go home and either sit on your phone or watch TV. That is literally the majority of people. They refuse to make time for self-reflection. Whether it’s their unconscious mind preventing them from doing so because they would hate what they might discover about themselves, or they simply don’t realize they’re doing it, it is a gigantic problem in life.
Modern dating culture has normalized emotional limbo. Entire cities are filled with beautiful, successful women stuck in 3 year “what are we?” relationships with men who still say they’re “figuring themselves out” at 38.
