A Ukrainian combine harvester fitted with a massive anti-drone protective structure heads out to work the fields. A telling image of what farming in Ukraine looks like, where even agricultural machinery increasingly needs protection from Russian drones.

🏚 Apartment seizures continue in Mariupol The scheme is brutally simple: properties are simply reassigned to new owners in the registry. Then the new “owner” shows up and tells the lawful residents that their Ukrainian documents no longer mean anything.

Immediately after Putin's fake elections, prices at Russia's largest grocery chains were raised, with most up around 40%. Now, those that mention it on social media are being fired from their jobs.

Voters rejected Reform UK in Blackpool yesterday.
Mark Butcher is Reform UK's candidate in Claremont, Blackpool, standing tomorrow. He's seen here with a group intimidating a council worker taking flags down. A worker, just doing his job. Disgusting. That's him climbing the ladder. Just think how a he would treat council staff if he was a councillor. There's also questions about Butcher's use of a charity as a campaign prop during the 2024 Blackpool South by-election. He was at the start of being investigated by the Charity Commission when he abruptly resigned as a trustee to 'protect its reputation'. Right. Looking at his social media for his charity campaigning, every other post is about voting for him and Reform UK. He's also a YouTube conspiracy theorist, posting a video about the debunked Kalergi plan, a far-right, antisemitic, white genocide theory. He also claimed that the CIA made TVs to put people to sleep so they would not be alert to other conspiracies. Utter crackpot.

He is absolutely right to call this out. Suella’s ethnicity does not prevent her from reinforcing racist attitudes. History is full of people who have aligned themselves with power and betrayed people from their own communities and backgrounds. Race, religion or background has never guaranteed solidarity or basic humanity. So Suella's "I'm being racist against myself?" argument is just so vacuous when we can judge her by her words and actions.

Of course Oli is correct in what he says here, Braverman is espousing a racist point of view by saying that only white people can be English. Natch. The most disturbing part of this for me is the underlying psychological contortions that Braverman is moving through to say that she, the ex-Home Secretary of this country, born in Harrow, educated at Cambridge … cannot now be English because of the colour of her skin. I've written before about my assertion that Reform UK is akin to a cult; tell me I'm wrong now. Because it feels to me like she believes it [almost]. She is vehemently defensive of the hairshirt she finds herself now trapped in. What happened? Attorney General, Home Sec — twice. Now she's reduced to, what is frankly a humiliation, on national TV trying to push Nigel Farage's extreme Nationalism ... by demeaning herself in such an insane fashion that she's now a laughingstock. When Reform UK inevitably collapses into the void, Suella Braverman will be dragged down with it but, in the meantime, she's reduced herself to the arguments of the worst racists you'll hear anywhere in 2026 — only white people can be English. Wow! It's genuinely sad.
Tonight on Question Time, I debated Suella Braverman on what it means to be English. I think there’s one word for her position

The Standard calls @andyburnham’s decision to pivot to Europe a “big gamble”. No. Brexit was the gamble and Britain lost. Rejoining the Single Market will unlock investment, jobs, growth and billions for public services. A Customs Union will help manufacturing across the North and Midlands. The City wants closer ties too. This is not London versus the rest of Britain. Every part of the country has been damaged by Brexitand every part stands to gain from reversing it. The real gamble is carrying on with Brexititis.

Can I just say to my Reform friends. When I was challenging the racism in the Labour Party during the Corbyn years you guys were cheering me from the rafters. So don't sulk now the same is happening to you. You don't get a pass on your own racism and Ethno-Nationalism. Sorry.

🇬🇧 Labour surges if it backs rejoining the EU 🇪🇺 A recent poll found that Labour support could rise substantially if the party committed to pursuing UK membership of the European Union. Under the hypothetical scenario, Labour reaches 37% of the vote. That compares with 24% for Labour in the latest YouGov Westminster voting intention poll, a difference of 13 percentage points. In that latest poll, Reform UK narrowly leads Labour by 25% to 24%. YouGov 📊 IF LABOUR SUPPORTS EU MEMBERSHIP (Compared to latest YouGov Poll) 🔴 Labour (S&D) 37% (+13%) 🩵 Reform UK 26% (+1%) 🔵 Conservatives (ECR) 16% (-3%) 🟠 LibDems (Renew) 7% (-5%) 🟢 Greens (Greens/EFA) 8% (-3%) ⚪ Other 6% (-3%) The YouGov research tested several possible Labour approaches towards Europe, including maintaining closer relations under its existing lines, joining a Customs Union, joining the Single Market and pursuing full EU membership. Of the options tested, EU membership produced the highest Labour vote share. Best for Britain 🗳️ Should Labour eventually campaign for the UK to rejoin the European Union? 🇬🇧🇪🇺

We are giving justified responses to Russia’s escalation with our own long-range sanctions. Important results are achieved practically every day. Over the past 24 hours, oil facilities in the Samara and Volgograd regions were hit. Successful operations were carried out in the Black Sea and in the Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Volgograd, Samara, and Krasnodar regions, targeting airfields, industrial facilities, oil refineries, a missile and space center, and an ammunition depot belonging to the occupiers. I thank the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine, Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, and Foreign Intelligence Service for their precision and professionalism.

I'm not sure why she keeps repeating this line that she is being accused of "being racist against myself" as if it's some sort of mic drop. She literally is being racist against herself and anyone else who looks like her, has her ethnic/immigrant background. To say you have to be white to be English is a totally racist statement. And this cop-out that she's British not English doesn't deal with Italy or France, where they don't have two identities. So is she saying brown and black people can't be French? If so, then what are brown and black people in France? Or Italy? The idea that the England football team captain can be Black but Braverman says he won't be considered English is both absurd and, yes, racist. And her being brown doesn't give her a pass or cover for her racism, it just means she's a self-hating racist.
You’ve called me racist this evening- albeit in a contorted way- but in doing so, you’ve lowered the tone of the debate with divisive and inflammatory language. And absurdly, you’re suggesting that I’m being racist against myself. It’s because of irresponsible language like yours that we in Reform need security. The left can keep smearing us as racist for challenging the cosy consensus on mass migration but we will not be bullied into silence.

Whilst we await the result, let's be clear, the Hirst by-election in Northumberland happened because the Reform UK councillor didn't bother to turn up. He did nothing. Their vetting is a joke. Nigel Farage's desperate quest for power means they will take anyone as a candidate.
