Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. It is with respect and gratitude that our team live and work on Treaty 6 territory, the ancestral and traditional territory of the Cree, Denesuliné, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Mohawk, and Nakota Sioux.
Today is an opportunity to take part in celebrating Indigenous people and cultures. We all have a responsibility to understand, reflect and remember the impact of colonialism, and the resilience and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. #NIPD

NEW PAPER ALERT! We evaluate how the ability of wolves to exploit their resources through movement interacts with resource density to influence home range size. The paper is highly couched in theory, but has strong application ties. My favorite combination! Read along.

So, we’ve reached 34 deaths per day from COVID. It’s a shocking number that really gets swamped over by all the other numbers. I’m going to describe the usual dying process in the ICU from this disease. I’m wearing my clinical hat, be warned.

I have a desktop folder labeled “BD”. It stands for “bad day”. When I get an email from a student telling me my work made a difference for them, I drop a copy there. When I feel hopeless or overwhelmed, I reread. It helps me remember the “why” of what I do on the toughest days.
