Skylab, America’s first space station, was the largest spacecraft in history at that point. But six years into Skylab’s orbit, catastrophe loomed, as “unanticipated atmospheric turbulence” began pulling the then-unmanned craft toward earth. The Institute for PsychoEnergetics in Brookline, Massachusetts, a grass-roots, private organization, hatched an ambitious plan. The group hoped to stop Skylab from crashing into the earth by using psychokinesis. Skeptics laughed at the Skylab’s telekinetic hopefuls, but scientists and officials from a wide swath of government agencies were seriously studying the potential of psychokinesis. By the 2000s, those studies ignited into a race to contain what some called the most powerful weapon in the world: Brainwaves. trulyhorror.com/mindbenders

El último Dickens del escritor Matthew Pearl es buen libro para los fans del escritor; entre realidad y ficción, narra las aventuras de Dickens en su gira por USA con trama de intriga que gira sobre un cuento que nunca terminó.

Stepping out of the island’s only gas station, Benke noticed a flyer hanging on the wall, and did a double take. Across the top of the page in large bold type, the flyer read “MISSING” along with a pixelated photo of a small, stark-white cat named Vail. This was not unusual. House cats get out, get lost, and usually don’t get found. Benke’s confusion over this particular flyer stemmed from what was printed just below the photo of the 5-pound Doll Face Persian: “$10,000 REWARD for Vail’s safe return home.” trulyadventure.us/lost-on-su…

The Award is a timely, razor-sharp, and unputdownable novel about writing groups, publishing, ambition, human foibles, and the dangerous things we will do to get ahead. #AdultFiction #MatthewPearl #LibrariesAreAwesome

"The Award" by @MatthewPearl "takes a dim view of its characters’ ambitions. Every bad and selfish choice made by the protagonist just adds to the pleasure of it," says @vulture. A Crime Time interview on A Mighty Blaze with host @HankPRyan. 4 PM ET TODAY
