.@JLab_News is about much more than nuclear physics! We're exploring safety solutions for the future of energy and giving businesses a "Boost." 🤝🚀 See how we've teamed with startup Canary Instruments to bring an invention by our staffers to emerging fusion energy markets. ⚛️⚡️
Tech transfer in action! 🤝 We've teamed up with Canary Instruments to bring a lab-developed radiation sensor to the emerging fusion energy market. Our inventors' subsurface monitor is a patented fusion safety solution born from nuclear physics research. jlab.org/news/releases/physi…

After my two-week stint as a first-time CEBAF Program Deputy, @JLab_News asked me to write about it. So I tried an alternative story format, blending first-person perspective with those of other office staffers who filled this vital volunteer role from "outside the fence." ⭐️⚛️
The program deputy is a temporary, on-call coordinator between the many people who make sure our world-class particle accelerator a delivers high-quality beam for experiments. And it doesn't take a technical expert to do it. jlab.org/news/stories/progra…

☀️🔌 Check out how @JLab_News is putting a unique "spin" on fusion research, exploring a special type of nuclear fuel treatment, called spin polarization, in the extreme conditions of a 100-million-degree plasma.⚛️🔥
We're putting a unique "spin" on fusion research, fueling efforts to harness the power of the stars for the world’s electrical grid. The project explores a type of fuel treatment, spin polarization, in the extreme conditions of a superheated plasma. jlab.org/news/releases/fusio…

📢 Got to work with some @JLab_News university collaborators on this piece, including @UofRegina in Canada, announcing the first results from the KaonLT experiment at Jefferson Lab. Absolutely love having fundamental nuclear physics on my timeline wherever possible! ⚛️🔬
We’re seeing the first results from KaonLT, where we use a beam of high-speed, polarized electrons to look inside the proton. Data shows we are not yet in the energy range where this key framework can be reliably applied, helping refine the path forward. jlab.org/news/releases/beam-…

Reinforcement learning (RL) can be likened to teach a computer to play chess, but turns out it can be a powerful tool for optimizing particle accelerator performance. These kinds of systems will go a long way for research machines of the future!
We led a collab with @ENERGY national labs that developed AI techniques to predict how particle accelerator components will behave during operation and tuning. The results could help operators anticipate disruptions before they impact physics experiments. jlab.org/news/releases/ai-ca…

Never thought I'd get the chance to write about the mass-generating mechanisms of the visible universe! ⚛️ ⚖️ Worked closely with a couple of @JLab_News physicists on this story about a monumental review of CEBAF data, going back nearly 30 years.
The emergence of hadron mass has long been an open problem in nuclear physics. Now, @JLab_News scientists are now getting a more detailed understanding of the process than ever before. ⚛️ ⚖️ The work was featured in a special edition of @Symmetry_MDPI. jlab.org/news/stories/toward…

More than proud to have been part of this visit to @JLab_News by @ENERGY Secretary Chris Wright, @GovernorVA Glenn Youngkin, and other DOE, state, city, and business officials. ⚡️⚛️ I'm lucky to be part of a lab community that comes together for events as big as this!

Nuclear physics! Had been writing a lot about AI, so it was a change of pace getting back to the building blocks of matter and the "glue" that holds them together. ⚛️ 🥼 Here's how a rather unassuming particle is playing an important role in the hunt for subatomic oddities. 🔬
For the first time, physicists at @JLab_News measured the probability of the a2 meson being produced by a polarized photon beam hitting a proton target. The rather unassuming particle is playing an important role in the hunt for subatomic oddities. 🔍⚛️ jlab.org/news/releases/stand…

To explore how particles get their spin, scientists developed a target chock full of spinning protons and neutrons that spin in the same direction. And to their surprise, the target flashes blue after experiments! Check it out: jlab.org/news/stories/polari…
