As businesses recover from the Lineage warehouse fire, we’re investing in them, working to protect jobs, and fighting for environmental justice. Boyle Heights deserves a city that shows up and delivers. That’s what I’ll continue to do for all Angelenos.

Being new to LA isn’t the problem. Being unfamiliar with LA’s history and arrogant enough to explain it to everybody else is the problem.
Nithya Raman said policing under Daryl Gates was the “gold standard” for LAPD. Daryl Gates was the LAPD Chief who militarized the department, led indiscriminate sweeps targeting Black communities, and cultivated the aggressive culture that led to the brutal beating of Rodney King.
LA still lives with that harm. Leaders who don’t understand our history risk repeating it.
Is this who you want in City Hall?
Nithya treats protecting immigrant families and protecting Black Angelenos from police abuse as competing priorities.
Our city must do both. I organized in South LA against the abuses of Gates’s LAPD, and I continue to stand up for immigrant families today.

Journalist Noah Adams, who hosted NPR's "All Things Considered" for nearly two decades, has died. He was 84.
To millions of radio listeners, Adams was a steady, reassuring voice guiding Americans through historic moments from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the Sept. 11 attacks.
But Adams also had a gift for telling quieter, more personal stories, capturing the lives and experiences of everyday Americans.
He wrote five books, exploring subjects from the Wright brothers to his own experience learning how to play the piano in his 50s.
Adams' wife said he died at their home in Ohio on Friday.

President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel amidst Putin’s ongoing and brutal attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine makes no sense and is a betrayal of the legacy and leadership of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
While Ukraine fights for its survival, Putin’s war machine continues to prosecute his terrorist war on civilian populations and innocent Ukrainians are dying every day.
Now, Instead of implementing the tough sanctions Lindsey Graham fought to his last breath to enact, President Trump has announced the United States is lifting sanctions on Russian energy, fueling the Putin’s war machine.
As I saw firsthand in Ukraine last month, Putin is losing this war. Ukraine has fought the Russian military to a standstill and reinvented warfare with drones taking the fight into the heart of Russia.
America should not be throwing a lifeline to Putin’s war machine. Now is the time to stand strong against Russian aggression as we did during the first Trump administration.
Putin doesn’t want peace. Putin wants Ukraine. I have no doubt that if Putin overruns Ukraine, it will only be a matter of time until Russia’s military crosses a border that our troops will have to deal with him.
America is the Leader of the Free World. For our National Security, for the security of our Allies in Europe including Ukraine, President Trump should rescind this deal immediately and return to the strong policies of our four years in the White House; impose harsh sanctions on any nation purchasing Russian energy and work with our allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. Former special counsel Jack Smith said Tuesday that he stands by his decision to bring charges against President Donald Trump over his mishandling of classified documents and role in the Jan. 6 attack.
“Our investigation developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump engaged in serious crimes against our nation,” Smith said during a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Smith, who in 2022 led investigations into Trump and secured two indictments, said he made decisions in the case "without regard” for Trump’s “political association activities, beliefs, or candidacy in the 2024 presidential election.”
“If asked whether to prosecute a former president today, based on the same facts, I would do so regardless of whether that president was a Republican or a Democrat,” he said.
Republicans and the president have accused Smith of pursuing a politically motivated case against the president. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, referred Smith to the Justice Department for possible prosecution, alleging that Smith made false statements during an hourslong closed-door meeting with lawmakers in December.
Smith has denied accusations of bias, saying he had "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" of what his investigations laid out.
“I stand by my testimony before the House of Representatives, and I will not be silenced by continued threats of prosecution,” he told the committee.

"I have enjoyed working with all of you. That does not, of course, mean that I've enjoyed every story that you have filed, but that's the point of this relationship. You're not supposed to be sycophants. You're supposed to be skeptics. You're supposed to ask me tough questions. You're not supposed to be complimentary, but you're supposed to cast a critical eye on folks who hold enormous power."
