Reminds me of some of the barbed, looped stitches I've seen for vaginal cuff closure in robotic hysterectomies, very clever!

Trick to save time when closing: Loop knot is made at the end of the suture. Here we’re closing an atriotomy via a minimally invasive incision. Needle is passed thro the tissue and then thro the loop to avoid the need for tying a knot at the end. Useful when every second counts
