Steve Kerr shares that one of the most valuable things he's learned as a coach is to stop beating himself up after failure. "I've had to unlearn the tendency to beat myself up after failure...I'm going to lose. I'm going to make poor decisions that I regret later. But losing sleep over them and beating myself up is not at all productive." A lot of coaches are great at helping players recover from mistakes, but many struggle to extend that same grace to themselves. You can prepare relentlessly, care deeply, and still make decisions you wish you could take back. The question isn't whether you'll make mistakes. Every coach does. Similar to athletes, the question is how you'll choose to respond after them...For your players and yourself. 📹: Consello

The accolades don’t make you great, it’s the soul of a human that truly tells the story. I hosted Aldon Smith at the Zou. I could tell then that he wanted to be apart of something with true meaning. He yearned for acceptance, to be apart of a family, and was one of the most relentless dawgs I’ve ever been blessed to play with. Truly the best! He was a hooper at heart, we use to run the Rec! Ask about us ! He didn’t even know what a football player was, he emulated the behavior of all of the dawgs he was around. Whether that was good or bad is a complex conversation. A bit of an oxymoron. I know I didn’t always do what I should’ve, I still fall short. That’s just the way it was written for young men thrust into a role that even a grown man would have trouble handling. Aldon was a gifted artist with talent beyond the gridiron, a heart of gold, and a smile made to be in front of the camera. Football is so small in the grand scheme of life, it’s a game that we serve with reverence that God only deserves. Still, it is a vessel of hope for many young kids from the ghetto in America. The tale of Aldon Smith is not one of tragedy, it is one of perseverance. When I last saw him we had the best time, it was like I was 20 and he was 18. He wasn’t a shell of himself, he was Aldon. He actually left the 24’ MU Auburn Homecoming game early bc he believed we had a better chance of winning if he wasn’t there. He never gave himself enough credit. I wish he would’ve stayed! Mizzou loves him dearly, so do I and all of our brothers! Win, lose, or draw, it is always about the people and the relationships you build through the connection of this game. We also laughed about my Girbaud jeans that he never returned from his visit, and the when I made him take off my icy-white, Pell Grant-bought Air Force 1s before we headed out on the town in Columbia. If you had just grabbed the everyday pair, we both would have had the classics on that night! 😂 If you were blessed to be around Aldon, watch him play, or just meet him, you were truly blessed. Now 85 can get his rest. I love you, little bro! The Great Aldini @AldonSmith I am forever proud of you! #madeMizzou

When an infielder makes a play where he is out of control, bounce the throw. This ensures the ball can be caught…The worst that can happen is the runner is safe at 1b and DP is still in play…trying to make the long perfect throw could lead to an overthrow or an in between hop

This is what I was saying earlier today. As we grow older, we think we should have be calmer or made better decisions. Pep came into Barcelona and immediately said he’s didn’t want Ronaldinho, Eto’o and Deco, he wasn’t ready to give them a chance. Same way he arrived at City and was clear he didn’t want Joe Hart…but as he grew as a manager, he would do some retrospection and wish he made better choices. Those who will benefit from his better version are the players at the next club he’s going. A typical example is Sir Alex and Beckham. Sir Alex learnt struggled at the end to manage such players, but when Cristiano came, he’d learnt. Don’t stop growing, evolve or die.

Mike Vrabel on the most important thing he's learned about building a culture in the NFL. "I've learned that we can have different personalities. We can't have different mentalities." Strong cultures don’t ask people to be the same. They ask people to commit to the same standards and non-negotiables. 📹: Bussin' With the Boys

"I'd say this to any coach...If your job is your identity, you're really going to struggle." This was part of Rick Barnes’ response to being asked what advice he’d give Lady Vols’ head coach, Kim Caldwell, following the birth of her son last year. He emphasized the importance of finding a balance between coaching and parenting and offered this reminder for all coaches: "This is what we do, it can't be who you are." 🎥: @Emcochranetv

Second switch-hitter EVER in MLB history with 50 home runs. First in 64 years. The last time a switch-hitter did this, the top TV shows in the US included: Perry Mason, The Andy Griffith Show, Bonanza and Wagon Train. Color TVs had only been for 7 years. THAT’S how long it’s been

Underrated life advice: Potential is nothing without execution. When you're young, everyone cares about your potential. You get accustomed to focusing on it. But as you get older, no one cares about your potential—just your delivery against it.
