Some early takeaways from Melbourne roughly 24 hours in:
- everything I’ve heard about this being a sports mad place is true. Fans everywhere in their respective gear. Everyone decked out for AFL playoffs last night and have been asked about the NFL game a handful of times already.
- the coffee hype is real. Three different spots, three excellent cups. (Shoutout Dukes, Palace and Market Lane, also accepting recs from those in the know).
- was told one of the reasons the NFL opted for Melbourne is the walkability. Absolutely true again. Other than airport to hotel haven’t been in a car at all.
- only disappointment so far: walked past a theatre and saw “Dracula” advertised. Sadly, on further inspection, it was a ballet and not the long awaited Dracula musical.
