With the cirrus clouds fanning out from #Erin, keep an eye out for some good sunsets tonight along the East Coast.
This is not the AIFS initialization for 00z 8/20. This is a 330hr forecast from 06z 8/6!
Yes, I picked the best 200+ hour forecast, but every one of those runs had a hurricane somewhere domain below valid on 00z 8/20.

Wow is right! No camera tricks here…this was a live tower cam earlier today in #NEwx
Just an observation... Outside of late May/Early June spurious Central America vorticity spin-ups with the GFS, very few bogus canes so far this season. Wonder how this compares to "climo" (if that's tracked). Will this last as model runs get further into August?
The @NHC_Atlantic does not forecast explicit landfall locations, so these are estimates based off of their track forecasts. The landfall zone never spread out more than 50 miles or so. A job very well done! #Milton

First pass of first flight in to #Milton shows surface pressure <990 mb, warming and drying at the center, flight-level winds still well below hurricane strength.
Exciting press release from @NOAA today, although I am disappointed there was no Muppet mentioned. Which would you choose?
Works out to a ~1.5 mb/hr pressure drop for the duration of the flight, with the rate increasing as the center moved ashore.
Landfall at Matagorda, TX and thank goodness this thing ran out of room. Look at the pressure drops on approach. Thanks @MattSitkowski for pointing this out.

I see the 12z GFS has a couple of Atl TCs. I wonder when the next full run (384 hr) will be without any Atl TC - 6/4 18z?😀or maybe 11/9 18z😵💫🤪
