John Harbaugh said, "Leadership is serving other people. It's helping other people accomplish what they want to accomplish. It's make a difference in their lives."
Great leaders believe they serve the team.
It means giving, not receiving.

.@MattPrunckle rebuilt the soccer programs at St. Laurence and Brother Rice, laying the state-contender foundation for both schools before walking away.
Now, Matt has built an even bigger program to truly impact the #GameOfLife.
What Matt Prunckle has done rebuilding the St. Laurence soccer program and now rebuilding the Brother Rice soccer program without a doubt ranks right up there with some of the best all-time moments when it comes to soccer coaching feats - not just in the South Suburbs - but all of #IHSA.
The St. Laurence brand was essentially dead. The Brother Rice brand was on life support.
And now look at both programs.
There is one common theme between both, and his name is coach Matt Prunckle.
#DYK: Prunckle, who starred as a player at Brother Rice under legendary coach Nick Markulin, led St. Laurence to its first win over Brother Rice in 30 years on Sept. 11, 2014 in his first season as head coach.
Prunckle, who as a senior led Brother Rice to an IHSA fourth-place finish in 2003, compiled a 44-25-11 record in four seasons at St. Laurence, leading it to a regional title in 2017 and back-to-back Chicago Catholic League titles - something that hadnβt been accomplished in quite some time in Burbank.
That program has since gone on to state appearances and been an annual contender each fall.
Prunckle returned to Brother Rice as head coach in Aug. 2018, taking over a program that hadnβt won a regional title since 2009β¦and look at them now.

Thank you @Tim_OBrien10 for another awesome story! It has been a great 10 years seeing you on the sidelines. There is no doubt that Iβll still be reading as you continue to highlight the athletes in our community.
After successful 6-year run at his alma mater, including huge '23, Brother Rice Coach Matt Prunckle steps down so he can help build up the school's Mount Sion program. Check out the @BevRevNews story!

Dan Hurley was asked, "What does a championship culture look like?"
He said, "Everyone thinks the same things, behaves the same way, and we're all striving for the same things. That's what culture means."
Dan then said, "My job is to make sure everyone in this building is not giving me what they have left, it's to give me everything that they got."
Your culture is what you accept.
It's a reflection of your leadership and what you're willing to tolerate. It means:
β’ Drive the ship.
β’ Lead by example.
β’ Hold people accountable.
5 Silent Culture Killers That Stop You From a Championship Culture:
1. When you let toxic people stay - Toxic people poison the work environment. They lower morale, spread negativity, and hinder productivity. Remove them is crucial to maintain a healthy culture and protecting your team. It is an example of how you slowly poison the culture from the inside-out.
2. When you don't communicate or give feedback - Poor communication leads to misunderstandings and confusion. Without feedback (good or bad), people don't know if they're meeting expectations. Open, honest dialogue builds trust and alignment. It means consistent, clear communication sending and listening.
3. When you haven't set clear expectations - Vague expectations lead to confusion and inconsistency. People need to know what's expected to perform well. Clear expectations guide behavior and improve outcomes. Define roles and goals to ensure everyone is on the same page.
4. When donβt hold people accountable - It means demanding, but not demeaning. Lack of accountability weakens standards and erodes trust. People will be complacent, selfish, and unproductive if they don't see you holding people accountable. It creates responsibility, ownership, and commitment in the team.
5. When you don't recognize and celebrate good work - Failing to recognize and celebrate achievements diminishes hope and even energy. People want to be celebrated and appreciated for positive achievements. Celebrating successes reinforces the positive behavior you're looking for.
