A statement from the Pittsburgh Penguins
Statement graphic that reads: The Pittsburgh Penguins team plane returned to the Salt Lake City International Airport today shortly after takeoff due to a medical episode involving forward Ben Kindel. Team physician, Dr. Dharmesh Vyas of UPMC, as well as the team’s medical staff were on board and immediately attended to Ben. An ambulance was waiting upon arrival, and he was taken to the University of Utah Hospital for further evaluation. Ben is conscious, alert and in stable condition. The health and safety of our players, as well as the privacy for their families, are our top priority. The team will provide further updates when appropriate.

It’s amazing this team let Sam Darnold walk. I mean, everyone who agreed to it should be shown the door. One decision can sink an organization.

We have tendered an offer sheet to Anaheim center Leo Carlsson. The offer is a five-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $18M, which would require four of the Flyers first-round draft picks in each of the next four seasons as compensation. nhl.com/flyers/news/flyers-t…

Mantha was productive before his injury and returned to form. This guy had an incredible rookie year no one seems to forget (they should) and is a power play specialist. He’s been useless 5 on 5. He won’t get much PP time. I’m struggling to understand this offseason for Dubas.

It’s funny money now. Nothing against the player but it’s a strange new world when Marchment is a $7M player. A lot of regrets will be made in the next few days. Mantha $8M? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤮

Mason Marchment sounds like he's headed to San Jose...long-time home of father Bryan in both an on- and off-ice role Word is 5 years, approx $7M AAV

We had talked about Korczak as a buyout candidate, obviously preferable to get him off the books entirely if possible. He is set to begin a new four-year deal at $3.25 million.

As a hockey player, with the net so much smaller, I struggle to understand how these guys miss on a penalty kick. Odds would tell me that, pressure aside, you should be able to hit a spot you are aiming for in the net. And they pass up obvious shooting opportunities in games. 🤷🏻

The Seattle Kraken get Chase Reid 7th overall. Reid is our top ranked defenceman. Over a point per game with the Soo Greyhounds. 90th+ percentile in puck moving and defending. Fun to watch him rush the puck up ice. Sportlogiq’s top ranked defenceman in the draft.

The Canucks pick Caleb Malhotra at No. 3. His dad, Manny, is the Canucks coach. He was also the No. 7 pick in the 1998 draft that was right here in Buffalo.

Again. Heads have to roll. Massive roster turnover. I’m not sure how you can even convince a big name free agent to sign or waive a NTC. So it’s not coming from that. Coaching, loading up on assets, being opportunistic with those assets. #SeaKraken
