Anytime you have sanctifying grace, you have the Holy Spirit present in the soul.
The theological virtues, faith, hope and love, these are the substance of the Christian life as we live it. And those are rooted in sanctifying grace. They’re the way sanctifying grace elevates our different powers.
The Holy Spirit is the divine person who proceeds as gift and as love. And the Spirit proceeds by way of love. And so in our supernatural reception of this gift, we are being made like the Holy Spirit who proceeds by way of love.

Lewis once said that the “chest” is the seat of trained sentiment and ordered desire. But he feared that our modern age is producing “men without chests.” In his book, The Abolition of Man, Lewis offers a penetrating diagnosis of a civilization that has lost its capacity for ordered love. Yet few have noticed its heart, the way the Prayer Book is a school for the affections, forming within us a liturgical imagination. To worship and pray is to preserve what Lewis feared modernity was destroying.

God could have remained high up on Sinai but he tabernacled with his people. He used *matter* (altar, incense, bread, lampstand, etc) so we worship with all 5 senses. Many churches in evangelical circles have shallow roots, lacking the depth provided by the historic tradition of Christianity.
If a tree's roots do not run deep, if they just run along the surface, when the winds pick up, that tree is going to fall and hurt someone. The same thing is true of the Church. The same thing is true of the Christian life.
Today, many churches focus more on entertainment or numbers than on catechesis, and they drive away those sheep who seek true depth.
