If she was, why may a woman occupy the office Paul ranks first and not the one underneath it? If she wasn’t, why did the old church read her that way until the rule needed her not to be? 2. If 1 Timothy 2:12 is a clear ban on ordinary pastoral authority, why did Paul avoid the ordinary word for authority and use a word he never uses again? If the rule is obvious, why is the verb obscure? 3. In 1 Corinthians 11, may a woman speak to the assembled church or not? If yes, what does “keep silence” mean that doesn’t delete chapter 11? If no, what does “every woman that prayeth or prophesieth” mean that doesn’t delete chapter 11? You don’t get a third category the paragraph never names. 4. Answer Acts 18:26 without the word “private.” A woman explained the way of God more accurately to a man already teaching in public. If that is not teaching a man, what is it? If it is teaching a man, where does the text say the living room is legal and the pulpit is sin? 5. Answer Deborah without “exception,” “different covenant,” or “judges aren’t pastors.” Did God put a woman in charge of Israel and give her His word for the military commander, or not? If He did, what in the passage tells you He will not let a woman give His word to a congregation?”
