The Department of Justice does not seek to stop any ballot from being cast or to stop the certification of Alaska's election. This litigation seeks to ensure that after Alaskans cast their ballots, they are preserved in a manner so that only Alaska's governing officials have the information necessary to make a determination as to whether Alaskan voters were confused or mislead.
The lawsuit was written by Justice Department attorneys and the Department did not coordinate with any campaign or candidate, but rather relied solely on federal law.

I need to clarify something:
A lot of MAGA Republicans in Congress and the right wing media are running around, bitching that "When Democrats win, they're going to be investigating everyone, and making trump's life a living hell."
That's correct, but not for the reasons YOU think.
trump has been doing it out of SPITE.
But it's actually the JOB of Congress.
It's called OVERSIGHT.
And if Republicans in Congress hadn't gotten so comfy allowing trump to fulfill any and all corrupt and vindictive urges and desires, Democrats wouldn't have to.
But it's actually the job of Congress to provide a CHECK AND BALANCE. Not to coddle him, run interference for him, to condone him... it's to provide oversight.
This Republican Congress is THE MOST shameful in recent memory. You've acted like wingmen, providing zero resistance to his tariffs and his Iran war, which have cost Americans dearly at the pump, the grocery store, and everywhere else.
It's no WONDER that corruption is listed as the NUMBER ONE concern of American voters, possibly for the first time ever, or in a very long time.
He is supposed to be consulting Congress on all these things; instead, you let baby fingers run roughshod all over you.
Everything from his corrupt crypto deals, his setting up his sons with $6 billion in Pentagon deals, the many no-bid contracts he's awarded, selling access to his Truth Social for $100,000 per month.
It is INSANE that Republicans in Congress have looked the other way on ALL of those things, as if they're not happening, or they are OK. It's NOT OK, none of it.
Washington DC was already corrupt, we know this. But Republicans have helped NORMALIZE those swampy conditions that trump amplified a hundred fold.
So MAGA Republicans:
Accountability is coming to DC on November 3rd.
