The scalar part survives as an object.
∇A is now one quaternion: S∇A + V∇A. Construction does not require S = 0. Magnetic induction is read from the vector slot (B = V∇A). The scalar slot is kept and is constructible when nonzero — the case the four-equation teaching has no home for.
S.∇A = 0 is a later constraint (Art. 617 uniqueness / Art. 619 “V unnecessary”), not ingest. If |S| is nonzero it raises; it does not delete the scalar.
Sibling of the split form (Arts. 594–603 still speak in div/curl). The unsplit object is Arts. 618–619 under citation.
It is on the open branch of PR #3, not yet merged to main:
github.com/antmikinka/MAXWEL…
Files to read against the original:
- maxwell/math/quaternion.py
- maxwell/electromagnetism/theory/quaternion_expressions.py
- tests/test_art_618_nabla_potential.py
Classical BVP cases remain (images, equipotentials). No general engine claimed.
On verification: the 618 object itself is small and has direct tests (including nonzero S). The broader article corpus was built from @MathpixApp OCR with agent assistance and some manual checks; I still want more human page-against-code verification before treating every detail as settled. If something in the original wording is sharper than the present objects, I want that found.

Recommend using @MathpixApp
when taking notes. Super convenient tool to extract LaTeX, code, and normal text from slides, blog posts, etc. Makes studying much easier.

Just discovered @MathpixApp, an awesome tool that converts a pic of my whiteboard directly in to latex code. Although not flawless, the slight editing required is a huge time saver compared to righting down everything my self. Needless to say, my life has been changed 🚀🚀🚀💙

Much appreciated, this was tedious to do in LaTex
We recently improved our support for OCR of Jordan matrices! Check out some examples in this video using Snipping Tool on Mac.

1. Find big scary equation that's hard to parse
2. Latex OCR it with Mathpix
3. Ask ChatGPT to break it down into heavily commented Python

Mathpix claims to offer PDF -> LaTeX / Markdown conversion. I was skeptical… but the results are quite amazing! Does anyone know if this implements a published model? Or is it all proprietary?

New favorite tool: @MathpixApp
Write an equation by hand (very fast), airdrop to laptop, Mathpix converts image to latex. Mind-blowingly accurate. #OCR has come a long way.

One of my favourite new tools for exploring ML research papers is @MathpixApp.
Screenshot a PDF and it turns it into editable LaTeX/markdown!
It's so good it feels like magic!
Works for text, equations, handwriting and more.
Perfect for exploring unknown math symbols.

Adobe better watch out...
The Mathpix mobile reflow is looking really promising!
And the PDF ⟷ HTML reading position sync is 🤩
SO many new features for PDFs! You can now search handwritten PDFs for math symbols, and we even added a reader for PDFs, that makes 2 columns PDFs easily readable on a phone. Mobile apps coming soon. mathpix.com/blog/convert-sea…

Yes, machine learning is everywhere. But this one application where it really delivers, my ugly handwriting and all. (Fun fact: my students implemented and live-demoed sth similar as their class project).
