I thought Chief was dead. I thought that Ralph loops just wasn’t necessary anymore with larger context windows and better harnesses. I just got proven wrong.
I’ve been working on building a desktop app over the last couple of days. And despite using sub agents heavily. My main agent has run out of context 3 times now, requiring compaction or a handoff to another agent.
The app would be done by now if I had just used Chief 😆

Okay, I admit I went a bit overboard on this. But Yak's automatic walkthrough videos just got a big overhaul.
- @mjwhansen assigned a Linear ticket to Yak.
- It spun up a local development environment to work on our docs repo
- Made the changes requested
- Captured screenshots and build this video walkthrough to show what it had done.
- Posts a PR
- Spins up a "scale to zero" preview URL, so you can review the changes directly
And thanks to feedback from @leenyburger, you no longer have to one-shot the Yak task.
You can simply tell it what it needs to change. You can also do this from Linear, or the GitHub Pull Request or even Slack, if that's where the task originated.
This is no longer just a fun experiment, we're actually getting real work done with Yak! 🤩

Most of us just guess pm.max_children.
And honestly, that worked pretty well when the cheap answer was always “give the box more RAM”.
But hardware isn’t getting cheaper, so I’ve been playing with making PHP-FPM use what it’s given a bit smarter.
I ended up pulling my existing tuning logic into its own sidecar: fpm-tune.
