The future doesn’t exist and it is unpredictable, so it's therefore uncertain. It needs to be created. You essentially have two choices: create it or let someone else create it.

The ultimate form of preparation is not planning for a specific scenario, but a mindset that can handle uncertainty.

This 👇 and maybe more important than the actual device measuring actual HR from well the 🫀but the noise that continuous optical readings are compared to an intentional morning HRV session.

This is why context matters & why elite training Rx can’t be overlayed to all. Intentionally controlled pace for correct adaptive signal is about all that’s necessary. But conversely allows HIIT or strength on opposing days. #harddayshardeasydayseasy
A few stats from the database... For those with VO2max under 50 ml/kg/min: * Fat Oxidation peaks at ~4mph (a brisk walk) * Fat Oxidation already down ~50% at 5.5mph (a jog) * Fat Oxidation at ZERO by 6.5mph #JustWalk

Great post by @theplews1 also to mention that recommendations for amateurs vs professionals should differ. Pros have a much higher absolute rate if both fat & carb oxidation as well from individualized testing some athletes carb oxidation rates don’t necessitate the overfueling.
NEW BLOG: Some carbohydrate intake during prolonged higher intensity efforts is important, but what does the physiology and research say about ingestion rates at close to 120 g per hour and the rise of the “Carbolution”? endureiq.com/blog/120-grams-… (@ProfTimNoakes, @PaulBLaursen)

What stresses you out may not be the same as others or training may not be the biggest!

How you perceive the stress of training matters! Reflect if it’s cumulative or a release. And it could be both depending on situation. I know a coach or sports scientists saying “It depends”; how ironic huh!?
Some people seem to like this visual. Here is a cleaned up version that also includes a basic reference to the originators of the Stress Bucket conceptualization.

One of my favorite tools I learned from athletes I coached: Let your mind go to a dark place in practice, then see if you can get out of it. Instead of avoiding the doubts & insecurities, practice going there in a secure environment. So you are ready on game day.

"Convenience" is no longer convenient if it just doesn't work! Do yourself a favor.. Get HRV4Training + a quality heart rate strap & spend *one minute* each morning getting good quality data! Guaranteed to be the highest return on *1 minute* of your time in your whole day!

“Let the door hit you is the a$$” principle. That’s usually biggest obstacle.
Condensed summary advice about not feeling motivated to train: Kit up and get some perspiration going (10-15-20-30min) and see if inspiration follows. It often does. But if you drop one, just do it…tomorrow. Or not. In the big picture, It probably does not matter a hoot😊

It’s not until the cup runneth over 🍺 @Alan_Couzens
Continuing the zone discussion: What do I mean when I say z4 or "threshold"? The zone just below the point on the curve that lies farthest from a line drawn from AeT to max. Important: FTP from a 20min test will lie above this point & is NOT a good marker for threshold work

.@ZelenskyyUa's tv address to the Russian (!) people might be the most moving speech that I've ever seen in my entire life. The whole world needs to see, understand and share this crucial Ukrainian message. #StandWithUkraine #Ukraine #Україна #Russia #Россия

The "train low" strategy debunked? "Commencing high-intensity endurance exercise with reduced pre-exercise muscle glycogen concentrations confers no additional benefit to the early signalling responses that regulate mitochondrial biogenesis." physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.c…
