In response to Dr. Pace’s districtwide challenge to shift the labor of learning to students, Principal McLaughlin challenged our OKE staff to put that vision into action!
Through purposeful questioning, student discourse, and targeted small-group instruction, our teachers provide the guidance while students explore, reason, explain, and justify their thinking. We provide the support. Students own the thinking!

Students discovered patterns, applied place-value reasoning, and explained how multiplying by powers of 10 changes a digit’s value.
