Sustainability is key to our manifesto. Altar II uses a polymer made from at least 50% recycled content, and ships in completely plastic-free, compact packaging.
Harmonic Synthesiser™, a tiny haptic actuator, enables new ways to interact with your computer: like crisp, real-time ticks as you turn M-Dial™, and a gentle tap when a notification arrives.
A keyboard is the interface between human and computer. To make that connection as seamless as possible, we’ve made Altar II the perfect companion to macOS.
Firstly, Altar II adopts the standard Mac layout: Command, Option, Control, Function, right where you expect them.
Then we made a lightweight, delightfully designed companion app. It’s written in Swift and crafted to be right at home on macOS.
The app makes Altar II fully customisable. Change key bindings, M-Dial™ behaviours, backlight, haptic and audio levels, and create app-specific shortcuts.

Thinking about getting one for my desk.
To achieve such a shockingly thin profile we had to rethink the internal architecture of a keyboard. The asymmetric design houses a high-density power cell and speaker in the battery casket, and we maximised the use of space by packing components under the M-Dial™ plinth and spacebar.
To refine key feedback and acoustics, we created a dual-layer damping system. It envelops the logic board with a sound-suppressing foam above, and an oversize elastomer footpad underneath, suspending the typing platform for total acoustic and vibration isolation.
When working at night, it’s better to avoid blue light. So Altar II uses a red coloured backlight, called NiteLite™, to reduce eye strain. Altar II knows when it’s dark, so NiteLite only turns on when you need it.

It's unfair to call this a keyboard, it's an instrument. No doubt, if @Apple made a Pro Keyboard, it would be the Altar II.
