Thanks @JeremyNative (a past @Material_Race speaker!) for the warm welcome and a great visit to @MasHouseStudio and the @ShinnecockGov! Amazing space, really thoughtful, important work and art that bridge past, present, and future.

Sarah Sprague was a Nipmuc craftswoman who made her living making baskets and repairing woven chair seats. This pair of chairs is said to be one of the last Sprague re-seated in her lifetime. They are now preserved in the #OSVMuseumCollection.

Out today! My @BBCRadio3 essay, 'Ruffs in Jamestown'. What are these clunky iron tools, & what do they have to do with English colonialism? How do Indigenous novels & artworks shed different light on ruffs, and on Renaissance self-fashioning more broadly?

Although we don't know his name, there was an enslaved goldsmith who created objects in Samuel Vernon’s Newport shop in the mid-1700s & he may have had a hand in this tankard's creation.
