The Altcoinist team is made up of traders who’ve been here since 2012. We’ve seen every cycle, used every tool under the sun, and traded just north of $50M across the team in the past two years alone. As memes took off and Telegram and Discord groups became the new trading hubs, traders spread across disconnected communities. Most tools were built for fast-paced trenching and fell short on fills, routing, and social features. So early last year, we launched our first product, a social trading Telegram bot. We partnered with @DefinitiveFi to bring infra used by trading desks moving millions each month into a Telegram-native interface and connect fragmented groups. In 2025, the Altcoinist network grew to 1K+ groups with 35K+ traders. After talking to dozens of power traders, we found they still needed 3 to 5 tools to find tickers, research onchain activity and social sentiment, trade, and manage positions, while the tg bot interface was limiting how far we could push the user experience. Most importantly, for the 99% of people not online 24/7, finding early signals and knowing who to trust is extremely time consuming. This is the core problem social trading solves. Social trading is a marketplace with two sides: 1. Users who surface early opportunities others can make money from. 2. People looking for those opportunities. Today, ppl decide who to follow based on who has publicly made the most money. That's a problem. Portfolio PnL or one winning trade tells you how well someone did for themselves. If you’re deciding who to follow, what matters is whether their public shares can create opportunities for YOU. Imagine if Airbnb ranked properties by how much money each host made.... you’d learn nothing about the quality of the stay. Like any marketplace, both sides of social trading need to get what they came for! People sharing information should earn reputation and distribution based on the opportunities they create for others. People looking for those opportunities should be able to see who creates them consistently and follow them. Over the past year, we’ve seen incredible onchain traders share ticker after ticker that ran 10x, 50x, sometimes 100x and higher, and not getting the credibility or attention they deserve. This has shaped what we’re building Altcoinist into. We’re keeping trades private and ranking traders by how consistently they share early, profitable opportunities with others.
