Very few filmmakers were capable of assembling an elite list of A-level actors who had their own unique style & continuously deliver successful films. Jean-Pierre Melville was one such filmmaker. Almost all his movies were like that & "Le Cercle Rouge" (1970) is no exception. There is this scene in the movie where Alain Delon & Gian Maria Volonté meet for the first time & Volonté points his gun over Delon. It is pure Cinema. You just have to see it to believe it. Though I wouldn't call it Melville's greatest work, it is still a quite enjoyable film.
