Overdue post... I am now the esports lead @USCUpstate. I started the position in late November, and we've made a ton of progress in rebuilding the experience and structure for the students. More to come.
Really proud of our teams this semester - a complete 180 from when I started this position last November. The job isn't over yet.
Three teams in first place, Two undefeated records, all strong contenders for playoffs! The Spartans are putting together a strong fall season on the backs of their collective effort.
VALORANT: 5-0, first in @ECAC_Esports Division C, Group 2
Overwatch: 4-0, first in ECAC Division D, Group 3
Marvel Rivals: 3-2, third in ECAC Division A, Group 1
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 5-1, first in @TheNexusLeague
As leaders we are supposed to be meaningful springboards to help those that we are charged with to progress. I consistently tell me students that I am not the protagonist - they're the one on the sticks. We the school are trying to elevate possibilities.
Come join us on our campus! We'll be very happy to welcome you!
YOOOOOOOO, USC Upstate is hosting a monthly, would mean a lot if we can make this a sucess!

I want to thank @TheNAECAD for hosting two LVL 1 clinics in SC - impacting more than 30 aspiring and current coaches in the Carolinas. This included 7 @UpstateEsports students. I am proud to empower the next generation of leaders. I know the future is bright.
Physical Fitness and well-being are super important to me. I am really happy to be working with @FitGMR to make a meaningful impact on our students and their active thought they put into their well-being.
This academic year our esports student athletes will be using the same training and performance systems
@FitGMR is a performance and player development platform created specifically for gamers and esports athletes. FITGMR helps competitors track and improve areas in fitness, nutrition, sleep, focus, and overall wellness while building healthier, more consistent routines.
This partnership strengthens USC Upstate Esports’ commitment to developing complete student-athletes. By incorporating resources focused on physical wellness, mental conditioning, preparation, and sustainable performance, our players will be better equipped to compete at a high level while succeeding in the classroom and in their daily lives.

Super glad to bring the best possible tools to our student competitors experience.
USC Upstate Esports is excited to announce a new partnership with TeamSpeak.
Clear and reliable communication is the backbone of competitive play, and this partnership gives our student-athletes access to the best latency in voice communications. We're grateful to TeamSpeak for investing in collegiate esports and in our students. #reachgreaterheights
The passion from our students is palpable! Going out and setting the energy right at the start of a season is a must and we did that well with our Axe-throwing event. Take the time to watch the below video... do you feel that energy? It's what motivates me everyday. I'm grateful.
Shoutout to @CoachRicashea and @CoachBilski and the whole @EsportsAtMSU team. They run a first-class program.
They made some really impactful comments before we exited the venue the last day of Riptide. I never not look forward to seeing the folks at MSU. Much love gentlefolk.
We, @UpstateEsports, had a really positive experience at Riptide. Thank you to @EsportsAtMSU for putting on such a strong event. Upstate came out of nowhere and made a real statement taking 5th and outperforming our 11th seed. This is only the start of the story for these guys.
Hey all! If you're looking for to complete the NAECAD certification, please be certain to register as soon as possible. I very much would love to welcome you all to our campus at USC Upstate.

I feel we often don't take enough opportunities just to be physically present at regional events in our space. Coming from a traditional sports background I really love being able to talk to parents, students, and teachers at these events - it makes the possibilities feel real.
Noah is an amazing talent, funny guy, and a great clear thinker - They've made an immediate impact in SC, and I am very grateful to welcome them to USCU. We're going to go to the top @Taskbot_SSBU! With plenty of Mellow Rolls for the ride!
On this note....
USC Upstate Esports is proud to sign @Taskbot_SSBU! Noah is Ranked the No. 7 Robin player globally by SchuStats, Noah is also No. 4 on South Carolina’s 2026 Q1 Power Rankings. A true threat in the southeast!
Welcome to Spartanburg, Taskbot! #notasktoogreat
It's important to me that we stay invested in our local community and eco-systems. Since I've started this job, I've maintained consistent contact with our local high schools. It's awesome to show the HS admins that their investments mean these outcomes for local students.
USC Upstate Esports is proud to welcome back-to-back South Carolina Fortnite state champion Jase Smith to the #SpartanArmy.
Jase joins us from Spartanburg Christian Academy, bringing championship experience and proven talent to USCU
Welcome to Upstate, Jase!
I want to shout-out and thank @AustinCruelty on helping us through this process. Some of the best customer service I've experienced in our space. Thank you for being an awesome partner, Austin! Hoping to do a lot more together.
Big thank you to the folks @esportsupply and Zodiac Labs for their work on getting us done right with our new custom PCs. The #spartanarmy is ready for action and we couldn't be more grateful. Check out the video below!
