ASPIRING CREATORS who are STUCK!
If your views are low. Look at these 3 big statistics
CTR (Click Through Rate)
APV (Average Percentage Viewed)
REACH (Impressions)
CTR: Is your idea interesting on a surface level?
APV: Did you maintain that interest?
REACH: Did your idea spread to a wide audience or was it too specific?
"People I talked to liked my idea, why is it not doing well?"
There are multiple potential reasons, but here are the big 3 likely answers:
-You executed the idea poorly (your style doesnt fit the niche's standards)
-The idea is too specific or too broad. (EX: Playing Minecraft Challenge is too broad, but Playing Minecraft While My Girlfriend Bothers Me for 16 Minutes for Forgetting Our Anniversary is too specific (lol))
-The packaging is off (either it doesn't fit with the niche's set expectation, or its just bad) continue to A/B test and learn what exactly is needed
"How do I make good ideas?"
This is the question that is hardest to answer with one straight answer, but here is my step by step answer to finding ideas for you specific niches-
-Define your niche
-find outliers in the niche
-find what you are specifically skilled at (EX: you play minecraft and love redstone, that is a good skill to focus on)
-Twist outliers into something distinctively yours with your specific trait
-Plan out the video with an outline to keep the videos pace well made and interesting
"How do I classify my videos?"
I love to classify videos into three sections-
-Scale: These videos focus on the concept of executing a crazy goal in the video. A great example is rekrap, or any off-grid cabin building channel, or even something like a reanimated project on youtube. The focus of the video is how big of a project something is to be executed.
-Story: These creators focus on the concept of the video to be executed through a story.
Example: ArtualCM in the minecraft space uses stories to execute a concept. Another channel that executed moreso on story is another channel like theweeklyslap, a commentary channel talking about life and giving advice.
-Mix: Truly, no video is exclusively story or scale.
Example: Animation storytime animators tell a story, but the extreme animation, and effort of telling this story enhances the stories quality and scale. A good very close 50/50 would be the channel Swoozie, whereas Let Me Explain studios is more on the Story aspect.
"What type of video should I do?"
DO A MIX! But for newer creators definitely lean on scale. It is extremely easier to run up an outline for a scaled project, plan out a thumbnail, and not be under a time restraint. Once you learn dedication, time management, and learn the ability to master packaging and retention, work on more story-based or mixed videos. But most newer creators who are directed to Scale typically do better than those leaning on story.
