People with a Switch (1 or 2) on FW 23.0.0: Is anyone noticing that game start times are substantially slower than normal?
We're seeing a handful of cases (someone who tried Pokemon stuff, another from a Splatoon speedrunner) where they're abnormally longer than normal.
Here's some instances of this issue:
- Attached is a video from Raylorant (in the Splatoon Speedrunning Discord) of how long S3 takes to open with 23.0.0 (Switch 2)
- Additionally, here's a post of someone trying Pokemon Sword and also having issues xitter.cf/s1140044/status/209798…
I hate to be this type of person, but I think Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave being $80 physical proves what I said.
This isn’t the type of game that would be $80 normally more than likely, so - while it’s not the new 3D Mario or whatever, I’m pretty confident this was an increase.
I don’t want to act like this is necessarily bad though - generally speaking the prices have been trending on the lower side for most of the releases since Pokopia.
Things generally being cheaper and physical being $10 more expensive than before are not mutually exclusive.
I have respect for Nintendo that they're announcing a price increase *4 months* in advance - I don't recall a prior instance of this much notice of an increase from a big company such as Nintendo
If people think that this is a nothingburger now, it's definitely not as significant as originally seen, but it can still be a problem if you:
- buy game within past 14 days
- go offline for whatever reason for more than the initial 30 days
Would you look at that...

The other major issue in all of this though is that Sony suffers from communication issues - if they just said "starting in March 2026 newly purchased games will have a 30 day license for the first 2 weeks, then it will become indefinite", none of this would've happened.
I have checked on this account for the first time since I last posted.
I now regret checking on this account for the first time since I last posted.
This feels like a non-response more than anything.
The pricing aligns exactly with NoE. I fail to see how we reach a "digital will be cheaper than before" conclusion.
Nintendo: "The cost of physical games is not going up.
"This means that when Nintendo sells digital versions of Nintendo published games exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 to consumers in the U.S., those prices will have an MSRP that is lower than their physical counterparts."

It's worth noting that - while they do say "The cost of physical games is not going up", they also say "When Nintendo sells [Digital Switch 2 games in the US], those prices will have an MSRP that is lower than their physical counterparts."
Second part feels oddly non-committal.
To reiterate: the pricing structure is seemingly identical to how NoE does stuff.
The only path I see here is if Nintendo had lower prices universally for digital... but I:
- don't envision them doing that
- don't think Yoshi is a good way to gauge that

Here's the pricing for Nintendo Switch 2 games in Europe (published by Nintendo)
Since I don't think people are realizing this properly: Assuming this is the same system as Nintendo of Europe's, this is a price *increase* to physical, rather than a price *drop* to digital.
Nintendo announces that starting in May 2026 (with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book), new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 will have an MSRP that is different from physical versions nintendo.com/us/whatsnew/abo…
