A mathematician put a year of unpublished work into a hosted AI tool. Days later the provider said its own model had solved the next problem along, by the same rare route he'd been taking. He asked whether his sessions had been used in training, and got no answer.

I'm actually really glad men and women agree on something.

Men and women both rank "best friends" as their favorite relationship archetype. The biggest gap in ranking is on "traditional roles", with men preferring it by a full point more than women. Women also rank "power couple", "intellectual sparring partners", and "artist and muse" higher than men do.

Not directly related to Clancy but how do liberals square both apparently believing in democracy yet also insisting that the only way democracy can ever work is if everyone consistently votes to uncritically support everything the expert class decides on every political issue?

The view of the world that's *actually* childish is: I don't have to think about this; I don't have to use my own judgment; there are authority figures who can make sense of everything, and I should follow what they say.
