Forty years ago today, Sheffield City Council organised a Marx Memorial Lecture to remember the life and works of the great philosopher on the anniversary of his death. We have now obtained a digitised copy of the 1983 lecture, delivered by the incredible Stuart Hall.

Marx Memorial Lectures were one facet of a South Yorkshire's approach to resist Thatcherism and build a municipal socialist alternative. Not to be missed 👇

Truly inspiring event watching this 1983 Stuart Hall lecture last night. Great initiative from local activists @JoeBrindle_ and @min_esh to revive the archive footage. Lots of practical and theoretical food for thought.

🚨please RT and share widely🚨 Trans rights are under attack from all sides and an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us We are calling a protest to reclaim our streets and bring the fight to the government 12pm, 1st April, Dev Green
On a black background there are the words ‘joy power protest’ in pink and blue in a font that sort of looks like slime(?). Below that in white it reads ‘trans march April 1 meet at dev green 12pm and March to law courts for 2pm’
