If Lisandro Martinez - who actually plays for Man Utd - is not entitled to express his opinion on the club he plays for, because his form isn't great - does that mean basically 99% of us can't express an opinion either?

I really wish people would listen to what Martínez is actually saying instead of twisting it into another attack on Carrick or the players. He supports the manager. He doesn't publicly turn on his teammates. What he's highlighting is that United needed greater squad depth, and that raises a much bigger question: why wasn't the squad properly equipped for the demands of this season?

This is a pointless argument. You have no problem with what was said you have a problem with who said it. The truth is the truth and it needed to be said.

🗣️ Lisandro Martinez also told CBS #MUFC lacks ambition. “For me, we don’t have the best squad at the moment compared to other top teams… “As a club, I expect more. I’m not going to close my mouth. I expect more. We need more ambition.”

You can be the best at something… but if you became the best by cheating to get there, you’re not actually the best. You’re just a cheat that wouldn’t have been the best without cheating 😐 How is that so hard to understand?

Apparently Manchester United were able to build their success due to the lack of financial rules pre-2009. So I went back to look at the publicly available financial records and found that actually United would NOT have broken Financial Fair Play (FFP) or Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) if they had been applied retrospectively to the 1990s or 2000.

A century later, they're still doing what they do best.
This newspaper clipping is from 7th of June 1906. “Manchester City Found Out.” City had been secretly funnelling money through directors' accounts to make illegal payments, circumvent financial rules and gain a sporting advantage. The FA found they had “for years systematically broken the rules... by very unscrupulous means.” The Guardian 120 years later, Manchester City are engulfed in another historic financial scandal. Different century. Different owners. Different rules. Manchester City Found Out. Again.

Curiouser and curiouser As @DamianHastie points out, in 2015 the US depts of Commerce, State + Transport launched an inquiry into whether Etihad were receiving govt subsidies Etihad statement to commission was: "The assertion that the Abu Dhabi government paid for Etihad's sponsorship of English Premier League football club Manchester City is … false. In 2011, Etihad and Manchester City entered into a 10-year sponsorship agreement, which included naming rights for Manchester City's stadium. Etihad funded this sponsorship from its own liquidity’

Last tweet of night: huge congrats again to Man City commercial team for raising their commercial income in 2021-22 more than 13% to £309.5m, or more than 50% of total income. Man Utd could only manage £258m, or 44.2% in the same period. Seems totally legit.

By the way, the 2018 charges aren't the last. They have also been charged for failing to provide documents from 2018-2023, the PL has also requested 2024 and 2025 and all have been refused. The PL will go after them for the later years, and then they will be "repeat" offenders, with even worse punishment than the first time. Man City are going bye bye, it is very simple.
