Folks, horror author Laird Barron is in hospital with what is potentially a very serious illness. Because the US has a demonic healthcare system and Laird has no insurance, he's in serious need of some financial support right now. Please donate if you can. gofundme.com/f/laird-barron-…

Donate to Laird Barron: hospital costs, medication costs, organized by Mike Davis

I love public libraries because they are built on the principle that books are so important and so necessary to human flourishing that access to them cannot depend on your income.

Apologies for this rant on universities cancelling English Lit courses in response to government demands that a % of graduates find professional level work within months. Firstly, you absolutely cannot measure the value of an education by the job anyone takes right afterwards. 🧵

You buy a mysterious sealed jar at a thrift store. It contains the ashes of an eccentric wizard. Their bored ghost starts showing up at your house, looking for something to do, and you talk them into teaching their craft

Very weird that some people still think a woman's purpose in life is to cook and clean and raise children when it's actually to become a queen terrible as the dawn, treacherous as the sea, stronger than the foundations of the earth

I love books so much. I can carry my favourite stories in my bag and read them wherever I am and instantly be transported to a wondrous fictional world. It will always be magic to me.

If a ghost haunted my house and truly wanted to make me feel fearful and hopeless, he should write a message in blood on the wall that says, “You have 50 unread emails to reply to.”
