In the latest episode of Building MarsBased, our CEO @lexrodba tells the whole story and why it fits our “do less, but better” approach.
Thank you to everyone who was part of it: youtu.be/0FDLmtOcTJ4
Activity faded after the pandemic. We looked for someone to take it over, but no realistic plan came in, so we decided to close it properly instead of letting it linger.
It grew to over 2000 members and became a direct line to founders, investors and CTOs across the city. It brought us colleagues, partners, investments and, yes, even a couple of families.
After 11 years, we’re closing Startups BCN.
We started it in October 2015 as a Slack to keep the conversation going between Startup Grind Barcelona events.
You’ll also find why we think Rails is quietly winning the AI agent race, a few Claude Code tricks we actually use day to day, and a great talk by Matt Pocock on why PRs are the new bottleneck.

But the real highlight: we’ve open-sourced our entire React Native playbook, built from everything we’ve learned on our recent mobile projects.
Our latest newsletter is live, and if you’re not subscribed yet, this is a good one to start with.
The Tailwind and Shopify move is still one of the big conversations in frontend, and we share our take on it.

Our founders, Xavier Redó and Jordi Vendrell, opened the day with a look at the state of MarsBased: where we are, what we've achieved, and where the spaceship is heading next.
Remote works. But some things are better in person!
Martian Day: the crew back on Earth.🚀
We're 100% remote, so every few months, we land in Barcelona to meet face-to-face.
