Democracy means a lot to many poor people...rare to see a Namibian man carrying a baby but not at this election. Many babies are voting twice with each parent in order to bypass crazy long cues. @AfricaFactsZone @BBCAfrica @NewEraNewspaper @cnnbrk @SABCNews

There seems to be a misunderstanding in Namibia that the government is initiating projects and then handpicking people to lead them. The fact is that many people are initiating their projects and then aligning them with government strategy. In the GH2 space specifically, the only project initiated by government was the Hyphen project which was also allocated in a transparent manner. All others are independent and privately driven projects that applied for German donor funding. The evaluation for those was facilitated by an independent body @SASSCAL_ORG. There is a lot of information available at gh2namibia.com. The agenda being spread/driven about lack of information or favoritism in allocating projects/benefits is neither true nor fair. If one must attack GH2, please do so on other basis but not that one.
Green Hydrogen & Corruption: “Namibia’s current approach to green hydrogen projects is already fraught with significant red flags,” says Graham Hopwood, Executive Director of the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR). He said lack of transparency, opaque processes, inadequate community consultation, selective project leaders and political exposed person involvement are some of the red flags within the project. Hopwood argues that government agencies and project managers have refused to release key documents and agreements, raising concerns about the openness of the process. He further stressed that access to finance and land, crucial components of green hydrogen projects, is unclear and raises questions about who controls resources. “Green hydrogen projects can impact local communities significantly, but many have voiced concerns that their input has been neglected,” he said. On selective project leaders, he explained that questions persist over how certain companies and individuals were selected to lead projects, raising fears of favouritism. The other issue he highlighted is the presence of politically influential individuals, or PEPs, and their proxies in company structures and licensing deals is a cause for concern. “If Namibia is to become a global leader in green hydrogen, we must address these issues head-on. There is no better time to learn from the extractive industries sector, which has grappled with corruption challenges for decades,” the executive director said. Report: Hertha Ekandjo

You can come together as a lawyer, engineer, accountant, marketing graduate and/or any other. Choose a project and use your skills to develop a concept and then a business plan. We will soon recruit mentors who can coach you but I am sure many are already available.

Ensure you do not pick a non tradeable good/service. Do not pick items that will be dependent on government tenders although of course government through tenders can be a good client also. Consider 8 billion people around the world as your potential market or at least 1.4 billion in Africa.

The main message is, fellow Namibians, if it is in your DNA and it is part of God’s call for your life to be in business, help us build projects so that we can attract local and foreign investors to invest in those projects and create jobs for our people. Let us work together to win the was against unemployment, poverty and inequality.
