I had a 5, and though the bot told me I had only one option after Turn 4, I didn’t know it at the time and was a little concerned I would be down to one turn. But I got away with it and continued my modest 19-game streak.
At least I'm heading in a more positive direction tonight. I tied the bot, and I solved the Wordle in 4. And how did you do? Wordle #1,949 4/6

It’s definitely a different world these days as far as the charts go. That could never have happened before the last decade or so. I remember Despicito by Luis Fonzo (?) had the record for awhile. And Old Town something…staying at the top twice as long as they used to.
The only reason I heard that Texas song is because one morning it appeared on my SiriusXM app on the Hits One channel, so I pressed on it to hear it. I can’t even remember how it goes now.
I heard the song once! What a difference from the time when a song like You Light Up My Life stayed on top for less than half that time and it was inescapable. By 1992 when The End of the Road tied the record, I hadn’t heard it until it tied it. Radio became musically segregated.
Album was Human Beinz with Nobody But Me, which I never knew was an Isley Bros song. Also had a cover of Foxey Lady. Song is no. 129, Working in the Coal Mine by Lee Dorsey (later by Devo). Next album is Blue Cheer and Vincebus Eruptum (whatever that means). Has Summertime Blues

Municipal golf can and should exist symbiotically with other forms of public recreation. That's how East Potomac is designed. The golf course preserves a large swath of green space in the middle, and non-golfers are invited to enjoy the recreational areas along the perimeter. The different sections of the park are mutually supportive.
If the golf course subsumes everything around it, those interrelationships get broken. This is the kind of thing that gives golf a bad name and might make non-golfers everywhere wonder why public land and money should be devoted to the game.

Wow! If this doesn't get the cost of groceries and gas down, nothing will. Well done, Mr. President.
I am pleased to announce that the Department of the Interior, under the auspices of Secretary Doug Burgum, and in conjunction with famed Golf Course Architect, Tom Fazio, has developed a plan to build a World Class Championship Golf Course on the site of the current East Potomac Golf Links, located in Washington, D.C. When completed, it will be open to the Public while, at the same time, designed to the Highest Level of Golf and able to hold World Class Tournaments such as the U.S. Open, the PGA Championship, the Ryder Cup, and the Presidents Cup. This Course will create many Jobs, and have a tremendously positive Economic Development impact on Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area. Millions of Dollars will inure to the Capital area. The current Course is old, broken, dilapidated, and of no further use or effect. It is in very poor condition, with falling, dangerous, and disease infested trees and, importantly, a collapsing and hazardous seawall. When the East Potomac Course was originally built, it was famous for no trees, with views of Washington, D.C., for all to see, but now, it is completely overgrown, dysfunctional, and unsafe. Restoration work will begin on the Fazio Design on November 15th, when the old Course will be closed to play. The new Course will be opened in approximately 15 months. The United States Golf Association, PGA of America, and the PGA Tour have already been notified that they will soon have one of the Best and Most Spectacular Golf Courses anywhere in the World to put on their list of great places to play, and hold Major Events. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

One yellow and a lot of greens and the result was a 4, with a 50/50 chance at 3 that I missed.
I seem to be stuck in a rut of 5s. Almost had a 4, and got a Sea of Greens, but enough with the 5s already! And how did you do? Wordle #1,948 5/6

Loved to “hit to the monuments” for under $10 a round and a half-smoke afterward. Loved it when people lined their cars along the road & you could hear their music all the way through the round. Foxes 🦊 on the course. Tip O’Neill played there and I’m sure he’d be sad about this.
Ended up solving Connections with your method—logic, since I wasn’t familiar with a couple of the names in the one I was having trouble with.
Moving back up slowly. Nearly had a 4, ended up with a 5 (better than the 6 I had last night). And how did you do? Wordle #1,947 5/6

Happy Birthday! A few years ago I met a couple on a Henderson hilltop—he was from P-burgh and she was from Atlanta. Had a nice chat with them! Hope you meet up with them someday.
I matched you. A bit of a slog but made it and extended my modest streak to 17. Now I’m struggling with the last two lines of Connections, where my streak is a dozen (good for that game for me). I got the purple line & have 3 mistakes left, but these look tough!

Album was one I never heard of growing up near Boston—The Eyes of the Beacon Street Union. Nothing I knew from it. There were a lot of Boston origin groups from the 1960s that seemed to be forgotten locally. Song is no. 132 of 1966, Solitary Man by Neil Diamond.
Good one. Album from 3/2/68 was Classics IV and Spooky, which was kind of an odd one because it was mostly covers with a few originals mixed in; the last one being their big title song hit. Song from 1966 was no. 136, Over Under Sideways Down by The Yardbirds.
Couldn’t Get it Right—Climax Blues Band, Get Back—Beatles, Get Lucky—Daft Punk, Get Rhythm—Johnny Cash, Come & Get It—Badfinger, Get Down Tonight—KC & the Sunshine Band, Get Down On It—Kool & the Gang, Come and Get Your Love—Redbone, Trying to Get the Feeling Again—Barry Manilow

She didn’t even outlast the gap in the Watergate tapes.
This week, Katie Zacharia set a new American record for shortest tenure as White House press secretary. Her term began on October 12th. Her one and only appearance in the White House press room took place on October 13th. It lasted fourteen minutes. After it was revealed that Zacharia had overstated her status as a lawyer (she is not a lawyer), she was out. To get some perspective on the episode, David Remnick spoke with Anthony Scaramucci, who, in the early days of the first Trump Presidency, had lasted 11 days in the job. “I didn’t like the job. I can’t speak for [Zacharia], but for me the firing came with some level of relief. There is a feeling of humiliation, but also relief,” Scaramucci said. A rare 2 for me. Had two yellows in the first guess, and the bot said I only had 6 words left to choose from. But looking at the list of the words remaining, of those there was one I didn’t know, and another I would have been unlikely to choose. So about a 1/4 chance and I got it
Well, the Wordle trap nearly got me, but I managed to escape with a 6. Given the awful letters I had, I'm happy I solved it at all. And how did you do? Wordle #1,946 6/6
