🌍 Connecting African Markets, Sharing Knowledge, Growing Together.
Today, Joburg Market welcomed delegates from across the African continent representing SACAU, AGRA and SADC for an insightful market tour led by Boitumelo Legadimana, Vegetable Halls Manager, and Lesego Pooe, Acting Senior Manager: Commercial Business.
Brought together by AGRA, a pan-African institution committed to transforming smallholder farming into thriving businesses, the delegates visited Joburg Market to bridge the gap between the knowledge shared with farmers and the practical realities of agricultural markets.
Representing countries including Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda, the delegates brought valuable perspectives from across the continent.
The visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, compare market operations and reflect on how African agricultural markets can learn from one another. While the discussions highlighted areas where Joburg Market continues to make strides, they also reinforced the importance of collaboration, knowledge-sharing and innovation in strengthening Africa’s agricultural value chains.
At Joburg Market, we believe that building stronger markets means building stronger opportunities for farmers. Through engagements like these, we continue to explore new ideas, share best practices and work towards a more connected and sustainable agricultural future for Africa.
Together, we can grow beyond borders. 🌱

🌱 Opportunity is taking root at LOLS Farm!
Joburg Market recently visited LOLS Farm in Randfontein, where the Selialia family is growing more than fresh produce. Their farming journey reflects the potential of emerging black-owned farming businesses to create employment, supply markets and build for the future.
The visit also gave Joburg Market an opportunity to engage directly with the family, hear about their experiences supplying the market and better understand the challenges they face. These conversations are important in strengthening relationships with farmers and identifying opportunities to improve their market experience.
From leafy greens to Mondial potatoes, the Selialia family’s story is a reminder of the opportunities that lie in agriculture and the importance of supporting farmers as they grow.
