The Impofu Wind Farms have taken eight years of dogged perseverance. Amazing milestone for the team at @RedCapEnergy and sterling work by the Enel Green Power team!

Are the renewable IPPs destroying Eskom?
Not at all! Quite the opposite, actually. Without renewable IPPs, diesel cost would have surged and both Eskom’s liquidity and its profit position would’ve been even worse.

SAWEA welcomes President Ramaphosa's confirmation of Eskom restructure and in particular, the establishment of an entity to manage system operation, power planning, procurement and buying functions which is vital to fair market access.

If @Eskom_SA did not have 2000 MW of renewable energy available on the grid during Stage 2 loadshedding for the previous week, there would have been Stage 4 loadshedding instead of Stage 2, costing the SA economy an additional R2bn per day.

SA’s State Capture Commission tragically has its first casualty. Mark van der Riet, who stood up to @koko_matshela refusing to OK below spec coal from Gupta mines, had a stroke and died last Tuesday as he was preparing his statement for a scheduled interview with Zondo lawyers

Ex @Eskom_SA executive @koko_matshela wants South Africans to believe our power utility’s difficulties and retrenchment plans are due to private independent power producers, which produce only 4.5% of our electricity. Might 10yr payroll increase from 32000 to 48000 be a factor?
Replying to @koko_matshela
I wish to advise family/friends of those facing retrenchments due to the impact of the nature of the IPP contracts to use their votes wisely in #Elections2019 .Remember that #REIPPP is @MYANC policy & is implemented by ANC government. @radebe_jeff @Numsa_Media @NUM_Media @_cosatu

Another example of progress under Ramaphosa’s administration. After a corrupt Zuma decade where he tried to force nuclear into the energy mix, eventhough it was not picked by planning models, finally it’s off the table & we can have a rational debate about least cost options
Cleaner power is a win for Cyril Ramaphosa — and a loss for Eskom ow.ly/8fyG30lA1b2

While President Ramaphosa’s rejects a nuclear deal with Russia, spokewoman says South Africa remains committed to an energy mix. Stating we want ‘all of the above’ is not a policy. Policy-making involves choices: e.g. competitively priced electricity. Nuclear doesn’t fit the bill

The #REIPPP fellas are done! A new dawn for renewable energy in South Africa. @Energy_ZA Minister @radebe_jeff stinks South Africa and the energy sector with his dynamic leadership and inspirational speech.

A huge blow for @Numsa_Media and Transform RSA as their application is struck from the court role and costs to be borne by the applicants. A huge victory for renewable energy in SA. The 27 REIPPP power purchase agreements can ow be signed.

SAWEA is pleased that the immense economic, social and environmental contribution that can be made by SA's RE Industry can now be unlocked. The Gauteng North High Court has ruled that the NUMSA/Transform SA application for an interdict should be struck from the roll.

Well done to the superb SAWEA legal team who presented a solid Industry response in the Gauteng North High court today. The court will provide its judgement on Thursday 29th at 10am.

During Zuma years there was a campaign of disinformation against renewable energy driven by rent-seeking in nuclear/coal & by those who missed opportunities in successful REIPPP programme. Now SA's new Energy Minister @radebe_jeff acknowledges RE benefits ow.ly/NigQ30iPtO1
