RENEWABLE RELIABLITY: When heatwaves stressed grid resources, renewables stepped up to supply most of the extra electricity needed. See how solar and storage investments are boosting grid reliability. More from: @Reuters reuters.com/commentary/reute…

Solar is the quickest to build 🏃‍➡️ But federal permitting bottlenecks are slowing the deployment of low-cost solar and storage and raising prices for American families. Every day Congress delays reform, prices, emissions, and grid instability go up. solarpowersamerica.org/campa…

Solar is making massive gains in Nevada, and helping to stabilize energy bills in the Silver State. For America to meet our energy needs, we need the same predictable, durable permitting that's made Nevada successful. wsj.com/business/energy-oil/…

📉 CA cut climate emissions again in 2024 — statewide emissions fell another 3.9% in 2024 extending a 20-year downward trend even as the economy continues to expand. Two decades after AB 32, California’s climate progress continues delivering real progress buff.ly/zLXsrJY

Solar alone met a peak of 102% of demand and WindWaterSolar met a peak of 128% of demand on Friday 9/18 on the @CaliforniaISO grid! CAISO now has 24.27 GW of solar, 12.33 GW of wind, and 17.225 GW of batteries, caiso.com/documents/key-stat… which compares with its average demand over last 12 months of 24.3 GW. Largely as a result, gas output is down 48%, wind up 23%, solar up 52%, batteries up 314% in '26 v '23. WWS has met 56.3% of all demand in '26; Gas only 20.1%. 7 days straight & 193 of 261 (74%) in 2026 with WWS>100%.

New solar peak output record (23.49 GW) and battery output record (57.71 GWh/day) on Saturday, August 15, 2026, on the @CaliforniaISO grid. 175th of 227 days (77.1%) in 2026 with WWS>100% of demand for part of the day. Solar up 52%, wind up 17%, batteries up 322%, fossil gas down 53% in 2026 v 2023.

The global growth in battery this year is bonkers🔋 On paper, the batteries installed this year can every day store and release an incredible 34% of the growth in solar generation🤯 We estimate solar generation grows by 491TWh in 2026 = 1346GWh more every day than in 2025. An estimated 459 GWh of battery capacity will be installed this year, which is 34% of that daily solar generation growth. But in practice many batteries will remain underutilised due to market design shortcomings. Batteries can stack revenues across energy arbitrage, ancillary services and capacity payments. Realising this value depends on market design. Where batteries can access multiple revenue streams and co-optimise across markets, they are used more efficiently. China illustrates the challenge. Despite being the world’s largest battery market, much of its battery fleet remains underused as regulatory reforms continue to open additional revenue streams. Standalone batteries cycled an average of 299 times in 2025, up from 146 cycles in 2022 but still well below international best practice of around 350 cycles a year. Meanwhile, co-located batteries cycled even less, averaging just 199 times in 2025. Market design policy has got to catch up with reality on the ground.

This system will deliver 1 GW of constant baseload electricity year-round supplied entirely by solar. Batteries will shift electrons to night.

The @IEA has increased its 2026 forecast --- now forecasts 29% of all cars sold will be electric... ⚡️
Despite a challenging backdrop for the global car market, electric car sales rebounded sharply in Q2 2026. Record quarterly sales in 50 countries have lifted the outlook, with EVs now expected to account for 29% of all cars sold this year 👉 iea.li/4hCjQzJ

🚨FOUR HOURS LATER AND TEXAS HAS BROKEN ITS SOLAR RECORD AGAIN! 34.7 GIGAWATTS
Two weeks ago, SEIA recapped the major records that solar and storage set in 2026: seia.org/blog/6-records-sola… Last week, 3 of them were broken once again. Solar and storage are breaking records faster than we can keep up... and that's been critical to keeping the lights on.

Texas now has >100 gigawatts (!) of solar, wind & batteries. And it's a good thing, too, bc demand is forecast to exceed the pre-2026 record peak demand *every day* this week. Renewables will meet ~50% of the massive peak power demand. Batteries will reach ~10 GW every night. 1/
