Swamped by war and tragedy, mundane life in Israel still goes on. I was in Tel Aviv last week and tried to capture a little bit of the mood. airmail.news/sh/rlh5pr via @airmailweekly
Too perfect. Ben Gvir’s police arrest IDF Brig General and former CEO of El Al because he was protecting an unarmed Palestinian woman from a civilian.

Sorry. This is the man who’s a political friend and partner of the mayor of New York, ally of the likely next senator from Michigan, and who will be a speaker at the Brooklyn Academy of Music this weekend. What have we come to?
In today’s Le Monde, Hasan Piker blames Oct 7 rapes on “apartheid.”
Smolar: “Raping someone is not an act of desperation. It’s simply a crime.”
Piker: “Yes, but, regardless, people aren’t born savages. They become that way because of their environment. lemonde.fr/m-le-mag/article/…
Nothing’s sacred. Just as this morning the mayor hijacked the commemoration of the Oct 7 massacre to denounce Israel, tonight a very leftwing anti-occupation and antiwar group called Israelis for Peace — they call Bibi a war criminal, label the war a genocide, and work with Palestinians — but they had their vigil hijacked by the global intifada mob shouting… well, take a listen. There’s a lesson here for Jewish New Yorkers. And it’s not good.
NOW: "Globalize the Intifada" and Mamdani chant as Pro-Palestine protesters storm the 'Israelis for Peace, Union Square rally', occupying the vigil seats as speaker of the rally addressed the crowd.

"Israel has also gone out of its way to provide aid and assistance to civilians in Gaza. More than 3.5 million tons of food, 48,000 tons of medical supplies, 5,000 tons of baby food, and up to 15,000 cubic meters per day of water desalinated by Israel have been sent into Gaza. Over half a million Gazan children were vaccinated during the war and some 5,000 Gazans evacuated for medical treatment abroad. These are not the actions of a genocidal state but of a professional military ethically and legally committed to the protection of civilian life."
Over 75 senior retired 🇺🇸U.S. generals, admirals, and military lawyers have signed a new open letter rejecting claims that Israel committed genocide in Gaza.
The signatories include those who have commanded U.S. armed forces in combat, applying the laws of armed conflict.
Their conclusion: based on the facts and applicable legal standard, the conduct of Israel’s war against Hamas does not constitute genocide.
As the letter states, “Civilian deaths occurring during combat, however tragic, are insufficient, by themselves, to support a finding of genocidal intent.”
The standards used to judge military conduct matter precisely because war is tragic and imperfect.
“The precedent established today regarding Israel will shape the conditions under which American forces fight tomorrow. Protecting civilians and preserving the ability of our nation to defend itself requires us to defend the truth when the laws of war are being distorted to make false charges of genocide.”
This is not an argument for minimizing the suffering of civilians. It is an argument for applying the law faithfully and maintaining the distinctions that matter: between the tragic consequences of war, violations of the laws of armed conflict, and the specific crime of genocide.

So who’s behind this pro-genocide rally at City Hall on the anniversary of October 7? Luckily we have the Mayor’s Office to Combat Antisemitism. I’m sure they’re on it.

theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1… This essay on the true history of Zionism by Adam Kirsch is absolutely extraordinary - clarifying and powerful and obligatory reading - for Zionists, Jews who aren't sure and - especially - for anti-Zionists.
Of course buried in the Mayor's new plan to fight antisemitism in NYC one finds increased funding to Linda Sarsour's former org, the AAANY, and probably to CAIR, and to the anti-Zionist org JFREJ. Disgraceful.
Mamdani’s antisemitism plan doubles Partners Against the Hate to $6.4 million. One anchor in that program is the Arab American Association of New York. Anchors get the city money and regrant it.
AAANY’s 2025 Form 990, Schedule I, is where it lists grants over $5,000. Same page: CAIR-NY, $57,779, PATH PROGRAM. JFREJ Community, $58,084, PATH PROGRAM.
About $223,500 to CAIR-NY since 2021. About $222,000 to JFREJ over the same years. Every check labeled PATH. City anti-hate money, passed through AAANY. These are the regrants, not a new earmark.
The rollout named @JCRCNY. The 990 names CAIR-NY. docs.candid.org/990/113/1136…
We actually need a serious discussion by knowledgeable experts who can weigh the evidence offered by the film and its critics. This should be in mainstream outlets like the Times and CNN. Not just reviews by unqualified columnists and critics. But don’t hold your breath.
