Some new work featuring the ever-popular Dancing Aspens, an incredibly photogenic group of trees, especially beneath a canopy of brilliant fall colors!
There’s so much to love about waterfalls in autumn, but the light really makes this scene for me. Filtering down from above, it lights up the golden leaves on that arching tree..a perfect natural frame!

Fall in Patagonia. Fiery forests, cold rushing water, and mountain towers disappearing into the clouds.
Doesn’t get more fall than this! Flowing water, a grist mill, and a backdrop of incredible fall colors.
Fall in the valley, winter on the peaks, and a beautiful display of dancing light below. A new image from the San Juan Mountains.
I used to get caught up in chasing peak fall color, when the trees were their fullest & most vibrant. Over the years, I’ve come to love when falling leaves reveal the bones of the trees, giving the remaining color room to shine. These four images celebrate a part of fall I once considered too late.
My favorite conditions to photograph: fall color peeking through a fresh dusting of snow. It’s hard to beat that combination.
I’ve returned to this spot quite a few times, always hoping for the right light. This time, everything finally aligned: stormy skies, high tide, and a fleeting glow.
One of the few prints of my work I have hanging in my home...sometimes everything just comes together.
