If a black or asian boy was stabbed by a white man then handcuffed on the floor by police as he bled to death the British public would have been subjected to a summer of pious lectures by everyone from the prime minister down about how institutionally racist we are.
There would have been protests, which would have been given huge press coverage. There would have been television addresses. Endless op-eds. Even a TV drama. And it would all have been used to demonise Reform and the dangers of the ‘far-right’.

Today we remember Christopher Butcher, 35. Christopher was a captain in the British Army and served in Iraq and Afghanistan with the Royal Artillery. Christopher suffered from PTSD and died on the 16th October 2017.
His dad, former England and Rangers captain Terry Butcher, said, “As a family, we ask that he be remembered as a hero, who so proudly served his country and who paid the ultimate price for his bravery.”
