‘I will never ask you to do anything I wouldn’t do myself’ is a pretty shitty expectation to set our junior colleagues.

Today these 3 women received total of 55 years imprisonment in Iran for their peaceful protest against compulsory hijab (seen in this vide). Their crime is joining #WhiteWednesdays campaign against #ForcedHijab. These women need international support for their cruel imprisonment.

Rohin has nailed a lot of what I’ve been meditating on recently. The current work patterns in medicine are completely unsustainable. I’ve been a Registrar for 9 years and I’m exhausted. I genuinely worry how much longer I can do this.
So much of the unpleasant aspects of medicine are historical hangovers. Understaffed rotas, long shifts, crazy workloads. If you were designing doc+nurse staffing from scratch you'd think they're crazy. Wouldn't a selling point for pts be "none of our staff work >8hr shifts"?

I found out yesterday that one of my previous residents killed herself so to date for me that makes 1 trainee, 1 resident classmate, 3 medical school classmates, an aunt and an uncle who have all died by suicide. I’m not sure what to do with that other keep saying it’s a problem.
