We'll be moving more towards virtual reading rooms in future years as library collections continue to incorporate digital materials. If you (like me) have strong opinions then think about getting involved here
💻 #Researchers, We Need Your Expertise!
@EmoryRoseMARBL at @EmoryUniversity is excited to invite researchers who use @NLIreland to participate in and explore the development and impact of virtual reading rooms and online access to archival materials.

Happy birthday to the wonderful Marian Keyes! 🎈
This portrait by Margaret Corcoran joined our collection at the beginning of the year, and has become a firm favourite since then. You can find it in Room 23 if you're visiting.
I wish I lived closer to Dublin

Hey Freshers, welcome to UCC. Here's what you need to know about the Bystander Intervention Programme, Part 1
Commercial fiction is often dismissed with monikers like "easy" or "beach" reads but the genre's conventions actively contribute to its socially activist potential. Read my arguments why here ⬇️
Why commercial fiction is an ideal place for social activism. Commercial fiction's reputation, structures and popular appeal mean it's an ideal medium to conduct social activism, writes @MariabButler @UCC @IrishResearch rte.ie/brainstorm/2024/0906/…
The long stairs back to Ireland. Thank you so much to @IASIL3 for awarding me a postgraduate scholarship to attend their conference in Tokyo this week. It was a fabulous conference and a once in a lifetime trip! I'm looking forward to putting my new knowledge to use ✏️📓📚
Terrifying!

The Dry, Bodkin, Obituary, The Sugar Wife - Have all of Ireland's actresses morphed together to form Siobhan Cullen, Ireland's only actress?
Disclaimer: she is very good and I thoroughly enjoyed both The Dry and Obituary (I haven't seen the others)
I really enjoyed co-presenting with @Keatd on my partnership with @NLIreland with at #CONUL24 this morning. I was especially delighted to hear the partnership opened the door to other researcher partnerships with the NLI! Collaboration benefits everyone 😊
Butler gives her perspective on what worked about the process and some of the challenges associated. #conul2024
I'm really enjoying listening about @DCULIB's History in your hand project @CONULconf. Secondary school information literacy instruction would make such a huge difference to teaching 1st year students. Imagine if they already understand citations from day 1!

#CONUL2024 starts today. Best of luck #changemakers @NLIreland's @Keatd & @UCC @MariabButler who're presenting ‘Keyes for Change: Collaboration Between Libraries & Academics to Promote Intersectional Research in the Digital Age’ on Thursday 30 May.

Decided to channel my inner Claire Walsh and go to Bewleys on Grafton Street for the day that's in it. It's gone very upmarket and Adam was nowhere to be seen but who doesn't love Harry Clarke 😊
@MarianKeyes #Watermelon
Up in the @NLIreland for my last research trip to the Mercy Close Archive and to prep for my joint presentation with @Keatd at @CONULconf in Belfast on Thursday. We'll be talking about the benefits of collaborations between librarians and academics 📚
