CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL BORN IN 1930's, 1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's and Early 80's !!!
First, you survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a tin, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, your baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints. You had no childproof lids on medicine ..medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when you rode your bikes, you had no helmets, not to mention, the risks you took hitch-hiking .. As children, you would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a van - loose - was always great fun. You drank water from the garden hosepipe and NOT from a bottle. You shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. You ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank pop with sugar in it, but you weren't overweight because...... YOU WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
You would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach you all day. And you were OK. You would spend hours building your go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out you forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, you learned to solve the problem . You did not have Play stations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no text messaging, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........
YOU HAD FRIENDS and you went outside and found them! You fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents you played with worms(well most boys did) and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. You made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although you were told it would happen, you did not poke out any eyes. You rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them! Local teams had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing you out if you broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. You had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and you learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL! And YOU are one of them! CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.
And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were

Andy Burnham has posted a misleading tweet trying to claim credit for the fact that Google Maps lists petrol prices. "I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help," he says, ignoring the fact that his government has already hoovered up another £110m in additional tax revenue on higher fuel prices since the 1st of August and that tax constitutes 47% of the price of petrol.
If fuel prices stay at their current levels, the full extra amount that Labour will rake in from VAT on fuel by next August is £1.2bn.
Moreover if Labour's planned 3p fuel duty increase on 1 January 2027, followed by 2p on 1 March 2027 and an April RPI uplift go ahead, then another £1.7bn of revenue will be raised in the first 7 months of 2027, meaning a total tax increase of £2.95bn over the Aug 26 to Aug 27 period.
If Burnham really wanted to make fuel more affordable, the least he would do is to reduce the level of tax so the government was no longer raking in even more cash from higher fuel prices.

VASTLY IMPORTANT!
UK Column exposes the fact that the UK Food Standards Agency has NO IDEA who produces the folic acid going into all out food.
Folic Acid is produced by DMS FIRMENICH
The SAME company that made BOVAER!
AN APPEAL!
As my posts are sometimes invisible to people who do NOT follow me, can someone, please ask UK Column, if I can have their permission to USE this VERY IMPORTANT VIDEO to get this information out to good people?

“The fasten seat belts sign is on”.
This is a message I received early this morning from one of the UK’s most experienced, savvy and respected financial traders. Someone I have come to know and trust for the last 25 years.
10-year bond yields are now almost 4.5pc - up some 50 basis points over the last month.
30-year yields this morning went above 6pc - a 28-year high.
Yet the UK’s political and media class continues to focus on party posturing and folksy rhetoric, ignoring the slow-motion disaster that has been happening on the UK’s sovereign bond markets for at least the last 18 months - a disaster that will inevitably, unless we drastically change course, turn into a fully blown market meltdown.
At that point, the UK government won’t be able to borrow enough money to finance our already spiralling debt interest bill.
Britain’s financial management will be taken over by overseas technocrats - that will be the condition of additional borrowing, to maintain the basic functions of the state, as happened in Greece and Italy back in the early 2010s and here in Britain 50 years ago this year (when we were forced in 1976 to apply to the IMF for a bailout).
The austerity then imposed on Britain would make 2010-2019 feel like a picnic - far, far worse than it would be if we took serious action now to control our public finances.
Lower-income households would suffer most - and there would be serious damage done to the UK’s already rapidly-fraying social fabric ….
I have been warning about these looking fiscal dangers publicly, in my newspaper columns and elsewhere, since at least early 2024.
Doing so hasn’t been easy or fun. I have been dismissed and derided by numerous economists, “economists”, officials and policymakers - as well as lots of journalists.
I absolutely don’t want a disastrous 1976-style outcome - which is why I’ve taken the blows and issued the warnings.
The state is too big. Public spending is out of control. Our fiscal rules are a convenient nonsense - designed to kick the can of financial reality into the future. We need to get real … and take bold action to tame the growth of spending, push back a now totally over-bearing state and snap the British economy out of today’s high-tax-high-borrowing-low-growth doom loop - the result of myopic, counter-productive policy-making by successive governments for the last decade and more …
Other prominent economists who agree with me - ie who are financially-literate, can read a yield curve, have a passing interest in economic history and who understand the dangers of some 80pc of UK government borrowing going on debt interest as it currently is - need to chuck “career risk” in the bin, and start saying publicly what so many of them have, for quite a while now, only had the bottle to say to me in private …
Remember: “The fasten seat belts sign is on”

The private sector creates the wealth. The government spends it. The Labour government forgot which one comes first. Every public-sector wage, every benefit, every hospital, every local government salary, every government infrastructure project is paid for by people who take a risk, hire someone, make something, sell something and turn a profit. That is not ideology. That is basic economic arithmetic.
Labour came into power talking about growth and partnership with business. But the Labour government simply do not understand the economic engine room of the private sector. They treat the people who generate the money as a cash machine.
Look at what the Labour government actually did:
They put a tax on jobs. Employer National Insurance went from 13.8% to 15%, and the threshold collapsed from £9,100 to £5,000. That is not a levy on “the rich.” That is a levy on hiring a receptionist, a warehouse worker, an apprentice. Employer NICs then jumped 28% in a year and overtook corporation tax as the biggest tax paid by business. Companies paid almost £345 billion in tax in 2025–26 - up by 12.7%. That money comes out of wages that were not raised, jobs that were not created and investment that was postponed.
The Labour government raised the price of success. They choked off growth. Capital gains tax went up. Business Asset Disposal Relief was watered down. Dividend tax went up. Farmers and family businesses were punished with inheritance tax.
Smalll business founders were told, in effect: take the risk and when you finally sell the thing you built, we will treat the exit more like a success punishment payment to the government. That is not “fairness.” That is a government eating the seed corn of an economy.
They layered cost on cost. Higher minimum wages with no offsetting productivity. Heavier employment regulation. Business rates that still punish the high street. Energy costs that leave manufacturers uncompetitive. Then more government briefings about the next raid — more capital gains tax, more wealth taxes, more “the rich must pay.” More uncertainty for businesses. Uncertainty is a tax of its own.
And then the Labour government act surprised when private-sector activity slumps, businesses close, hiring stalls, and the CBI has to warn the government not to hit businesses again. You cannot squeeze the wealth-creating part of the economy and then demand it produces more growth, more jobs and more tax receipts. That is not redistribution. It is a wrecking ball strategy.
You do not create more jobs by making it more expensive to employ anyone. You do not get more houses by driving builders and investors away. You do not produce more food by punishing those who grow the food. You do not get a richer country by treating profit and employee growth as something that should be plundered by the government.
The wealth of a nation is built by people who could have chosen an easier life and did not. Punish that class long enough and you do not get equality. You get stagnation, fewer jobs and an economically illiterate government still hungry for money that is no longer being made because of their failure to support our British businesses.
If Britain wants better public services, it needs a private sector that is expanding, not one that is being financially punished for the privilege of still being here.

I found out that this gentleman was just one of the members of the House of Lords, who were PUSHING gov't to adopt the folic acid mandate.
A Fabian advisor, too!
I am currently researching all these who pushed for this totalitarian policy.
Because it was a GROUP EFFORT!

FOLATE AND FOLIC ACID ARE NOT THE SAME THING.
Folate occurs naturally in foods such as leafy greens, broccoli and beans.
Folic acid is the synthetic form and from December it will be mandatorily added to most non-wholemeal wheat flour. It is turning up in hundreds of packaged foods already. What is going on?
This is my issue: CHOICE.
People who need or want folic acid can take it. But why should a synthetic form be routinely added to a staple food eaten by millions?

‼️A GOVT CANNOT LEGALLY MANDATE ADDITION OF A SUBSTANCE TO FOOD SUPPLY IF IT IS SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN TO CAUSE NET HARM TO THE PUBLIC‼️

@ClareCraigPath is spot on with this post, our food standards agency are trying to distance themselves from what they know will be a public health disaster and a subsequent huge criminal case if synthetic Folic acid is mandated in our flour. Please sign the petition.
How on earth can putting a drug into the food not be within the remit of the Food Standards Agency? @foodgov
We might as well sack the lot if they can't be bothered with this!

I've just had a tooth out. No grainy food for me for a few days. 🙄 What about some soup? Nice tin of Heinz Oxtail soup, just the ticket. "No Artificial Colours or Preservatives". Perfect.
But wait, what's this? Folic acid? In soup? For a middle aged man with no folate deficiency and no prospects of imminent pregnancy? WTF, Heinz?
